Do you really think career politicians dislike debt? It is the cornerstone why they are elected. People now days in general think debt is a good thing... People used to think the opposite.


How about let’s cut back spending before raising taxes?

Food stamps are dwarfed by tax expenditures. Not even a drop in the bucket compared to the $1.4 trillion of government gifts in the form of tax expenditures.

You’re half right, but the fact remains, the poor are an liability. And they always will be.

Where you are backwards on, is you don’t raise taxes to spend more, that is insanity. The responsible thing is to spend less before raising taxes... Raising taxes should be the last resort, in fact maybe not even an option.

Socialist entitlement programs are the reason, the sole reason for the 20,000,000,000,000+ debt, in fact that number is not even right it’s more like 200+ trillion in unfunded liabilities which is absolutely due to Spending more than what we have. Thanks to career politicians, and those that keep on voting them into office.
Easiest thing in the world is to spend less than what you have, I have been doing it for 20+ years, I don’t think I’m the part of the demographic that is responsible for our national debt… LOL

I base it on somebody named Clinton from Arkansas, who ran a $300+ billion surplus for FY 2000

With a republican congress, but that’s besides the point there can be no surplus if there is an outstanding debt.
I will explain it in terms you can understand... a junky is three months behind on rent.
He will not get credit for the current month till the past due is paid up.
