Western Civilization has changed drastically. In fact, so has the culture of this nation, although I don’t know which is responsible for the other. Joe D is representative of a different time, a different view people had of the nation, of faith, and of our future.



1.At the beginning of our journey, the journey that led to Western Civilization, there were two doctrines leading away from the paganism of pre-monotheistic times: God created every human in His image and human beings are able to investigate and make rational conclusions about the world. These two ideas were born in Jerusalem and Athens, respectively. The importance of same is the basis of Ben Shapiro’s new best-seller, “The Right Side Of History.”

2. These two factors are largely responsible for this cornucopia. Compared to an earlier time, today mothers and their children can expect to survive childbirth, and their children live another eight decades. Almost every American lives in a climate-controlled home with food and a TV. They have a car, refrig, microwave, and a cell phone. We have computers with internet, buy products from all over the globe, and cheaply, at that. None will be enslaved, few murdered, and free to have unpopular views or lifestyles. You can worship as you wish, or not at all. There is no institutional racism, and no governmental requirement to have or not have children. There is no aristocracy, no perennial wealth class, and most will die richer than when they were born.



First one, and now the other, have been minimized, marginalized, erased and eliminated by the Left.
First the Enlightenment killed God, and now what might be termed ‘tolerance’ has done to reason what Orwell predicted in 1984: “War is Peace. Freedom Is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.”

4. If faith in God and religion, and a believe in man’s ability to reason, led to the glorious civilization in which we luxuriate…..where does the loss of both lead humanity?

Rather than traditional taboos, only religiously based moral judgment was deemed taboo. 5. There must be some value to Leftist thought, or there wouldn’t be so many who have succumbed.


It promises and appeals to some of the darker aspects of human nature: a promise of an award of the fruits of other people’s labor, erasing any need for personal responsibility, free this and free that,….and all that is required is that all traditions and values be destroyed.

6. Promote Globalism, whatever Wall Street wants Wall Street gets, see K-Street Cash
7. Paris Climate Change Treaty where the US pays $trillions to poor countries
8. Stupid trade agreements, e.g tax breaks to move factories overseas
9. Let China run roughshod over the US for trade and intellectual property
10. Let NK develop nukes and ICBM delivery systems, have no one capable of dealing with NK
11. Raise taxes to 70% on the wealthy, especially on corporations so they relocate overseas
12. Opioid problem running rampant across the US
13. Gangs like MS-13 running rampant across the US
14. No steel or mining industries due to foreign "dumping" of subsidized products
15. No new pipelines
16. No offshore drilling
17. The dems' "Central Committee" appoints super-delegates to subvert real voters in primaries
18. Pack the US Supreme Court to promote liberal policies
19. Impeach anyone they deem not liberal enough, like Kavanaugh
20. Use the Federal Government to punish conservatives, like the IRS and Lois Lerner hounded conservatives

Western Civilization has changed drastically. In fact, so has the culture of this nation, although I don’t know which is responsible for the other. Joe D is representative of a different time, a different view people had of the nation, of faith, and of our future.

We have computers with internet, buy products from all over the globe, and cheaply, at that. None will be enslaved, few murdered, and free to have unpopular views or lifestyles. You can worship as you wish, or not at all. There is no institutional racism, and no governmental requirement to have or not have children. There is no aristocracy, no perennial wealth class, and most will die richer than when they were born.



First one, and now the other, have been minimized, marginalized, erased and eliminated by the Left.
First the Enlightenment killed God, and now what might be termed ‘tolerance’ has done to reason what Orwell predicted in 1984: “War is Peace. Freedom Is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.”

We’ve dismissed the Bible and with it, a proper definition of justice, righteousness, goodness, marriage, masculinity, femininity, sexual morality, family, and so on. As a result, we no longer have any meaningful basis for distinguishing between what ought to be considered moral and immoral."

I was too young to see DiMaggio but I saw a lot of Mantle....I know this ain't a baseball thread but I think what I'm about to say is relevant to it. A reporter asked Joltin Joe why he played so hard every day and he said: "Because there will be a kid in the stands who's heard of me but never seen me play, and I don't want to let him down". Mantle was the fastest man in MLB history from home to 1B....3.1 seconds from the left side of the plate...he was a switch-hitter. There have been times close to that but they were black guys who weighed maybe 170 lbs....Mantle weighed about 205lbs. Mickey's downfall was stepping on drain-plates in Yankee Stadium outfield running at top speed...both knees. And he was a lounge lizard with Billy Martin and Whitey Ford, often playing hung-over...something Joe never did. Dimaggio's only mistake in life was falling for Marilyn Monroe. He sent fresh flowers to her grave every day until the day he died, years later.

Whitey was whiffing Tiger hitters at a rapid clip one night in 1961....and each time he'd look over at Clete Boyer at 3B and chuckle. We Detroit fans are bred to hate the Yanks but this was too much. I'd caught a foul ball during batting practice and waited for the proper moment. Whitey had his back turned toward my seat and I winged my ball at him.
