The Russia/Ukraine war places everything in limbo for Venezuela and several other countries, including Cuba.

The people are patient and have endured crippling US sanctions many times before. Depending on how Russia's war goes, the crippling and killing sanctions could be neutralized by the coming alliance.

Well the difference is that the US's intentions have been to promote democratic/republican govt, or at least to hinder terrorists. We haven't acquired any territory since we stepped into the Mexico Texicans dispute nearly 200 years ago. I was against both Iraq invasions, and was not for nation building in Afghan, at least after OBL was killed. Putin's aim is a bit different.

A better comparison to both Russia's invasion and the US in Afghan, Iraq, Libya and Syria might be to the Chinese and the Uyghurs .... or better yet between Putin and Ukraine and China and Taiwan

The Iraqi oil business was on the ropes before the invasion. We killed it off for 7-8 years. When it came time to bid none of the oil majors showed up. Dubya wasn't actually an oil man. Maybe he was drinking and drugging during those years. The cardinal rule of the oil business is .... the oil business hates a warzone.

They had what we consider "terrorists". The issue is how we define "terrorists". Saddam had those who would attempt to topple him and he would kill them. We condemned Saddam for this. We go in and topple Saddam but then the same people try and run us off. We then call them terrorists and pretend we are doing the right thing by killing them.

We are no better than those we condemn. People were scared for their children every bit as much when we were dropping bombs as Ukrainian's are when Russia does it.
