Why do Americans feel like taxes are somehow the government robbing them of money?

nothing you have is yours, it all belongs to your wonderful loving king. HE will decide how much you "need".

Instead of repeating the brain-dead rhetoric, why don't you prove your point and tell us; actual federal tax paid ÷ Total income?

"Why do Americans feel like taxes are somehow the government robbing them of money?"

Why are Leftists incapable of reason beyond fallacious claptrap?

Americans aren't opposed to taxation... we're opposed to limitless, irrational government; OKA: Socialism, AKA: Evil.

thank you. I guess we are suppose to take monies (taxes) from our families and be thrilled to give to government so they can pass onto the leeches in this country.

Yes, we are being robbed by our useless wars on the abstractions of Crime, Drugs, Poverty, and Terror. They are boondoggles and generational forms of theft. Only the Right likes to blame the least wealthy for not working hard enough.

The latest leeches are Chase and Citi Bank.

Yeah, after they failed to save the American industry what led to job losses.

That's not true. Libertarians blame them too

Fiscal conservatives opposed the government policies that led to the meltdown and we opposed bailing out the losers who failed, so obviously this is our fault. Idiot

I just can‘t seem to understand why so many Americans are extremely sensitive when it comes to taxes, and often oppose strongly of a progressive tax system.
At least personally, I think of taxes as giving back to the society and community, and I enjoy many of the governments services every day.
Also. I don‘t understand the objection towards a progressive taxation system
It's probably the part where people's hard earned money is taken by force and used to fund nonsense they find repellent. If you want to give back to society then give of your own free will, but let's not pretend that taking people's money against their will is the same thing.

  1. Why do Americans feel like taxes are somehow the government robbing them of money?

Because the Capital Right can't make money with a Commerce Clause and an official Mint unless they are Continentaling us, Congressionally.

Why do Americans feel like taxes are somehow the government robbing them of money?

Because it is.

By all means, go right ahead and do with your money what you will, but don't tell me what to do with mine.

Also. I don‘t understand the objection towards a progressive taxation system

It punishes success and achievement.

The phrase “fiscal conservatism” in common usage today has two meanings — one trivial, the other misleading. When “fiscal conservatism” means merely a willingness to pay for government spending, no matter what the scale or purpose of that spending may be, then the term is trivial. When “fiscal conservatism” is used as a synonym for small-government economic conservatism, then the term is misleading.

When it comes to taxes people will always want to avoid the responsibility of paying them even if they are the ones benefiting the most from those taxes or they believe in what those taxes are being spent on.

There is also a lot of spending that people may not agree with. Some people may not like how much we spend on defense. Another person may not like how much we spend on feeding poor people. I can't imagine anyone agreeing with all the things we spend money on but that is just kind of the deal in Democracy.

The people that talk about it being theft are a special brand of people who really have no concept of civilization. I don't know if they were just educated poorly, or if they were brainwashed, or what. The underlying thought processes of these type of people are rarely if ever logically consistent. They also build their arguments around fantasized versions of reality without taxation. I am glad they have active imaginations but I don't think you can build public policy around it.

If you don't use or benefit from tax based programs and services you shouldn't have to pay taxes. But I doubt anyone qualifies.

As far as progressive taxes; I made more money last year than the average worker makes in his/her lifetime, yet I paid less percentage of my total income in federal tax than you. And there lies the fallacy.

How does it punish success and achievement? Only bad capitalists can find tax deferred investments.

What a bigoted liberal load of crap that article is. They measure fiscal spending in regard to taxes, not the size of the economy. It's like saying you are a fiscal conservative because of your credit card balance while ignoring your savings and the sustainability of your spending levels. It also apparently ignores your debts based on your unfunded commitments and only counts the ones with bank statements.

Any "one percenter" who got their money the old fashioned way, they earned it, would know that. If you're a one percenter, you were given it by your rich daddy who didn't recognize the money should be left to you in a trust and spoon fed you because you're too ignorant to ever be able to manage it on your own

There is no fiscal conservatism on the clueless and Causeless Right; we have fiscally irresponsible wars on crime, drugs, poverty and terror; but, apparently, gun lovers Only know how to invest in Arms.
