Why do Blacks vote Democrat?

So let's see what the Democrats' policies have given blacks....

Education levels of African Americans vs. the general population
African American education levels: 77.6% of those ages 18+ are high school graduates (versus 83.1% of the population).

BlackDemographics.com INCOME
During the 1990s African American income grew tremendously. By 2000, 57.9% of African American households had an annual income of $35K or more compared to just 38.2% in 1970. However due to the recession that number dropped to just 46% by 2011 reversing much of these gains. The most dramatic change during this same period is the percentage of Black households making under $15K (from 14.5% in 2000 to 25.4% in 2011) which is well below the poverty line.

Although incomes for African Americans have improved significantly since the Civil Rights era, they are still lower then the average Americans. For example the median income for Black families is $20 thousand a year less than the American median income. As you can see from the chart labeled Family Income 2010 thatBlack married-couple families make more than twice that of Female householder families. This charts also proves that there is a substantial benefit for those in a married-couple family regardless of race or ethnicity.

But....being stripped of your identity and named after your owner is the ultimate in EQUALITY. What more would any good negro want?
For GOD'S sake man! The GOP freed the slaves 150 years ago.
Jeeze! Please try to man up and accept facts. No one can give you your African last name back. You don't know what it is. I don't either. Hell you don't even know if you had one.

BUT you want equal rights to set yourself apart. Makes no sense.

These two assclown posts both illustrate the issue they're entirely ignorant of --- division.

Where do you asshats get the idea that "my party" passes whatever laws you like (or find useful) and "their party" passes whatever ones you don't (or find useful in the negative)? Laws are passed by Congress, ot parties, i.e. elected representatives of the People. This incessant obsession with dividing everything into a good-and-evil dichotomy (and of course for the purposes of this topic, black people and their interests always end up in the latter camp) is exactly what's keeping that dynamic exactly where it is.

And Ernie, the so-called "GOP" was all of eleven years old when the 13th Amendment was passed (by the States, not by the "GOP". And Obiwan, enough with the billboard fonts. We ain't fuggin' blind out here.

Pogo

Just giving you proof that the Democrats's programs don't work.... And how do you like the fact that blacks are making LESS under Obozo??

Better question

Why does ANYONE vote democrat? With the talk & behaviors I've seen the last few years it astonishes me that they hold any seats.

Most Americans just aren't as smart as you, I guess. If only you could influence them somehow. Educate them. If only.
You could be the smartest person in the country an still cast an ignorant vote when you're not informed about politics
You do it every time
Says the drone who votes based on image rather than issues.
Kosh...is that you?

Just giving you proof that the Democrats's programs don't work.... And how do you like the fact that blacks are making LESS under Obozo??

And there you go again, straight back into it.

The topic is "why do blacks vote Democrat" --- not "how well do Democratic or Republican programs work". That voting pattern has got nothing to do with "Obozo" -- it was going on for four generations before him. However use of the term "Obozo" actually addresses the topic more than anything else in your post.

"Making less" than who, or when? I suspect we're all making less "under Obozo" since the economy collapsed just before his first election and we're still not completely out of it. Again, that's got little or nothing to do with "Obozo" and everything to do with the global economy, so what you're trying to do apparently is cherrypick a cum hoc fallacy.

You remember that economic collapse, right? The elephant in the room summa y'all keep ignoring when y'all scratch your heads about how he could have won and instead want to talk only about race?

Why do Blacks vote Democrat?

What have Republicans ever done for blacks? Please be specific.

What have Democrats ever done for blacks? Apart from enslaving them in urban ghettos?

Please be specific.

.
What have they done?

Affirmative action, education programs, healthcare, mass transit, childcare, jobs programs, minority business initiatives.....

What have republicans offered other than more prisons?

Face it Dems. The facts don't lie. All the really shitty places to live in the United States are those places controlled by the Democrat party.

Deal with it.

Those are general categories. Both Republicans and Democrats can lay claim to the same. 'Please be specific' was included for a reason.

Do you think today's Republicans (especially NaziCons) would elect Lincoln president? Lincoln waged a war to free black slaves. What have Republicans done for blacks since Lincoln freed them?
What you might not know about the 1964 Civil Rights Act - CNNPolitics.com

Here are a few surprising facts about how the Civil Rights Act of 1964 became law:

1. More Republicans voted in favor of the Civil Rights Act than Democrats

The Guardian's Harry J. Enten broke down the vote, showing that more than 80% of Republicans in both houses voted in favor of the bill, compared with more than 60% of Democrats.

2. A fiscal conservative became an unsung hero in helping the Act pass

Ohio's Republican Rep. William McCullochhad a conservative track record -- he opposed foreign and federal education aid and supported gun rights and school prayer. His district (the same one now represented by House Speaker John Boehner) had a small African-American population. So he had little to gain politically by supporting the Civil Rights Act.

Yet he became a critical leader in getting the bill passed.

His ancestors opposed slavery even before the Civil War, and he'd made a deal with Kennedy tosee thebill through to passage.

"The Constitution doesn't say that whites alone shall have our most basic rights, but that we all shall have them," McCulloch would say to fellow legislators.

Later, he would play a key role in the 1965 Voting Rights Act and the 1968 Fair Housing Act and become part of the Kerner Commission, appointed by the Johnson administration to investigate the 1967 race riots.

Kennedy's widow, Jacqueline Kennedy, wrote him an "emotional" letter when he retired from Congress in 1972.

"You made a personal commitment to President Kennedy in October 1963, against all interests of your district," she wrote. "There were so many opportunities to sabotage the bill, without appearing to do so, but you never took them. On the contrary, you brought everyone else along with you."

3. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.met for the first and only time during Senate debate on the act

140402150841-martin-luther-king-malcolm-x-1964-story-top.jpg

Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X met briefly once as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was being debated in Washington.
The two leaders met briefly on March 26, 1964, while they were both on Capitol Hill to hear debate on the 1964 Civil Rights Act. That brief encounter was captured by photographers.

"Well, Malcolm, good to see you," King greeted Malcolm X.

"Good to see you," he replied.

Known for his direct rhetoric in denouncing America's treatment of African-Americans, Malcolm X was a stark contrast to King, who preached tolerance and peace in achieving equal rights.

Some scholars say the two could have formed an alliance, as Malcolm X moved away from the Nation of Islam. But it never happened: Malcolm X was shot and killed less than a year after their first and only encounter. King was assassinated in 1968.

4. The act didn't help just black Americans

Women, religious minorities, Latinos and whites also benefited from the Civil Rights Act, which would later serve as a model for other anti-discrimination measures passed by Congress, including the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act.

Under the Civil Rights Act, women who had been fired because they became pregnant, or were not hired because they had small children, now had recourse. As a result of Title VII, "male only" job notices became illegal for the first time.

Before the Civil Rights Act, women made upless than 3% of attorneys and less than 1% of federal judges; now they make up nearly a third of lawyers, according to the National Jurist, and three of the nine Supreme Court Justices are women.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was also created by the law, giving women a workable "hammer" with which to shatter the glass ceiling.

5. A segregationist congressman's attempt to kill the bill backfired

Virginia's Democratic Rep. Howard W. Smith was a staunch segregationist and strongly opposed the Civil Rights Act.

Smith, who was chairman of the House Rules Committee, came up with many tactics to discourage the passage of the bill's Title VII, which would outlaw employment discrimination because of race, color, religion or national origin.

It is also interesting to note that MalcolmX and Dr Martin Luther King were both Republicans.

And the Republicans are running an African American in their primary this time (the Democrats' field is all white).

Perhaps you've heard of the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1964?

Maybe not.... Progressive Underground doesn't like to talk about that.

Really?

New York, Los Angeles, San Fransico are our most visited cities

Which Republican controlled city or state does anyone want to visit?

I named programs promoted by Democrats today, not Republicans fifty years ago

Name a program today supported by Republicans that helps minorities but isn't a windfall for the wealthy

Yep-I am sure that African Americans love being told by Conservatives that the reason they vote Democrat is because all African Americans are too stupid not to.
I agree, its much better to be told that you need handouts and lower standards for schools, work and military because you belong to a genetically inferior race.
Fuck those ignorant conservatives for saying you are equal and should be able to excel in the same manner as your white counterparts.
They are equal. It's not them it's things are equal. Maybe you misunderstood
I meant things are not equal for black people. They are equal. But the situation there in is not equal that with so many white hiring managers being prejudiced all across America and you know they exist
