I agree we all do it. I did it last night at work and still after all these years I still forget people are not as talented as me fixing a machine problem, are goals and wants are not all the same.We all do it... Liberals and Conservatives, and Centrists and Independents alike.
What distinguishes Liberals from the rest, I think, is their obnoxious insistence upon getting their own way by any means and at any cost.
And there are even exceptions in that category - there are, indeed, examples of such disingenuous and overbearing behaviors on the part of the others, as well.
It's just that Liberals / Progressives seem to do it sooooo much more frequently than the others, that Lib-Progs end-up 'eating' (suffering) the attaching of the stereotype to them, and end-up 'owning' it - fairly or unfairly - rightly or wrongly.
The most disgusting aspect of this, for me, is the seeming insistence of Lib-Progs that they pretend to know what is good for you, soooo much better than you do yourself.
It's the mindset which says that not only are there some things that the government does better than the individual, but that most things are better done by the government than by the individual - and that they know better than you, which things those are.
Not to mention their willingness-in-a-heartbeat to empty your wallet on behalf of The Beehive Collective, insofar as they can get away with it, by any means, fair or foul.
Most LIb-Progs probably start-out meaning well, and a great many in their ranks are young, and inexperienced, and naive and gullible, and are absolutely certain that they have all the answers...
These younglings have all the energy and fervor and zeal of the New Religious Convert, having found a Substitute God to worship, and a wide-ranging Congregation in which to reside, and they work very hard to advance their 'faith' and to zealously advocate for their 'substitute godhead'; 'missionary work' - secular style - for many younglings.
Lib-Prog ranks also include old-timers and minorities who oftentimes seem not to have done well in life, and who band-together and submit to The Beehive Collective, seeking safety in numbers, rather like a school fish.
Lib-Prog ranks also seem to include a few here and there who have done well in life, and who enjoy the White Man's Guilt or Rich Man's Duty to Humanity, and who lend some additional weight to an oftentimes otherwise lightweight collection of juicy rationalizations and erzatz justifications for their Beehive Collective Mindset.
Because a great many of them believe that they are the one-and-only answer, and that they, above all others, fight for justice and peace and the betterment of Mankind - they oftentimes and nearly unconsciously slip into a "The End Justifies the Means" framework in their dealings with others who do not think like them...
Lib-Progs - once they slip into End-Justifies-the-Means mode - then seem to slowly but surely slip into the role of the Socialist Revolutionary - most recently represented in the 20th by the Communists in various parts of the world.
Of course, we all know how that Grand Experiment turned out.
All the rest of us can do is to take the best of what they offer and incorporate that into a saner overall governance and society, while rejecting the more impractical or idiotic or touchy-feely crap they dream-up, and bitch-slap them back to Reality when they get lose control and become dangerous or - more frequently - just a genuine pain in the ass.
===============
"A man who is not a Liberal in his youth has no heart.
A man who is not a Conservative in his old age has no brains."
- Winston Churchill
( an apocryphal attribution )
most liberals see work as just a paycheck and just look at the clock to when they get to go home
Most cons see their jobs as a passion and don't want to go home
The above just and example
This is awesome!! The disconnect from reality is just awesome.
