Yes....this woman knew she was under threat....a deadly threat.. the police obviously couldn't help her...and so she tried to protect herself with the most effective tool available...a gun...but because the gun grabbers don't want non-violent, peaceful, law abiding citizens to own guns...she had to go through stupid hoops to get the gun...while a street criminal can get a gun easily and in less time....

And while she was waiting to get her permit to then wait to get her gun.....her boyfriend stabbed her to death.....

and for you gun grabbers....it was a win win...right? She didn't get a gun...which is what you want....and he didn't use a gun to murder her...right?

Now...since none of you will answer this, well one guy did once.........if you could go back in time and give this woman a gun...would you?

NJ Woman Stabbed to Death Waiting for State Permission to Own Gun - Breitbart

On April 21, Carol Browne from Berlin Township, NJ, applied for a license to own a handgun, which she wanted to protect herself from a former boyfriend against whom she had a restraining order.

On June 3—while still waiting for the state to give her permission to own a gun—Browne’s former boyfriend, Michael Eitel, allegedly stabbed her to death in her own driveway.

According to the Courier-Post, after getting the restraining order, Browne “installed security cameras and an alarm system to her home and began the months-long process of obtaining a handgun.” Browne’s co-workers said, “She got a restraining order about a month ago, and right after that her car windows were broken.”

Browne “had inquired” about the progress of her gun license request as recently as June 1, but the “application process typically takes two months or more as police collect information on the applicant, including fingerprints and reference checks.”

Eitel, Browne’s former boyfriend, is “a convicted felon” who, as of Thursday, had still managed to elude authorities. He pleaded “guilty to a weapons offense in 2008 after being indicted in 2006 on a charge of aggravated assault with bodily injury. He received a five-year sentence for that offense, which neighbors said was related to an assault on a former girlfriend.”

So.....I guess her safe room didn't save her....right? Everything else she did failed...all the things you gun grabbers say should be done failed..........the one thing she didn't have...a gun...because of you gun grabbers......

I am blaming anti gun activists who managed to get dumb gun laws passed that prevent honest, peaceful, law abiding citizens their right to own a gun for protection.......their dumb laws do not stop criminals from getting guns or stop crime...as was shown here....who was stopped...this woman who was under direct threat......

She did everything the gun grabbers want...she got alarms, the police were involved, she had cameras, she got a restraining order.....and because he is a man, and stronger, and more aggressive....he simply stabbed her to death when he had the chance......and the state prevented her from protecting herself with the most effective tool available...a gun........

And Look....

He pleaded “guilty to a weapons offense in 2008 after being indicted in 2006 on a charge of aggravated assault with bodily injury.

'The only gun laws that work are locking up guys like this when they use a gun to commit a crime......they did not do this.....gun grabbers do not care about gun crime....if they did they would focus on stopping criminals...they hate normal people who want guns........because they know they can control those people while they can't control actual violent criminals............

This guy was convicted on a weapons charge and was out to murder this woman in less than 7 years....he should have been in for at least 10 or more for assault with a weapon........

LOL! That would be hilarious!

And just like you can't be killed while waiting for your carry permit, there is no down side to be forced to wait for an abortion.

What could possibly go wrong?

New Jersey Woman stabbed to death by ex-boyfriend while she was waiting for months for the police to approve her permit to own a gun - Crime Prevention Research Center crimeresearch.org

Carol Browne, 39, had a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend and had put in a security system as well as cameras all around the outside of her house. But those obviously had no effect on stopping her ex-boyfriend from stabbing her to death late this last Wednesday night. Restraining orders work on after someone has broken them. What is most troubling in this cases is that Browne had been waiting for months for the police to approve her permit to own a gun. Her killer, Michael Eitel, had a long criminal record.

Tragically, Browne had just checked on what was happening to the approval for her to own a gun two days before she was killed. From NJ.com:

Carol Bowne was fatally stabbed by an ex-boyfriend late Wednesday night just outside her Berlin home, she had been waiting since mid April.

Although the 39-year-old longtime hair stylist had filed a restraining order against suspect Michael Eitel, 45, the man allegedly attacked her shortly after 10 p.m. upon Bowne’s arrival at her Patton Avenue home.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, who is aiding in the search for the suspect who remains at large, did not plan to release additional information pertaining to the case on Friday.

According to reports, Bowne submitted her application for a gun license on April 21 and went to see where the process stood two days before her death. Reports also indicate the police department had not yet received the results of her fingerprinting.

How about a blaming the police who knew this woman was in danger, hence the restraining order, and the attack on the prior girlfriend and did nothing to protect this woman. There's no guarantee that this woman would have been able to shoot the bastard herself before the guy stabbed her.

There is an assumption that anyone who owns a gun is safe and in reality that's not true.

First of all, no one is assuming that the woman would be safe if she owned a gun.

The point is that if she had a gun when attacked by the larger stronger knife wielding man, she would have had a chance to defend herself and save her life.

THe cops don't have the man power to sit a car outside of the house of every woman who is breaking up with an asshole.

The cops don't have the power to arrest the guy before he commits the crime.

We, as a society could have let her have the ability to protect herself. Instead we made her wait. And now she is dead.

Actually, a gun is the most effective way to stop a violent criminal attack....actual research shows this....and if you study self defense with guns you see that average people, with very little training can and do defend themselves with great restraint and skill.....that is why you should look at "The Armed Citizen", Gunssavelives....and other sites that collect and show the actual stories of self defense....too many people who talk about self defense with guns don't know the truth....or the reality of guns used to save lives.....they get information from anti gun journalists, in their television shows and movies from writers and directors who are anti gun for everyone else.....but deploy armed body guards, for themselves....

Dragon Lady.....do some research...had this woman been armed with a gun...with a little training, there is a really good chance she would be alive today...

And this article points out how stupid the government is when it comes to gun control laws and the average, peaceful, law abiding citizen.......

Gun-Control Kills People -- New Jersey s Deadly Gun Laws National Review Online

But this should serve as no acceptable excuse. By state law, New Jersey is required to get back to permit petitioners within 30 days. It didn’t. It almost never does.

Instead, would-be gun owners report waiting for three, four, six, and even nine months for permission to exercise what the Second Amendment makes clear is an unalienable individual right. The rules do not apply to the government.

New Jersey’s Gun Laws Are as Confusing as Its Highways For the citizenry, by contrast, minor infractions are routinely transmuted into life-destroying sentences.

Had there been no public outcries, New Jersey would at present be hosting in its prisons a black single mother of two who misunderstood the concealed-carry rules in Atlantic County;

a septuagenarian retiree who bought a non-functional, 260-year-old pistol from an antiques dealer and was arrested for carrying without a license;

and a security guard and aspiring police officer who inadvertently left his firearm in his glove box while driving with his girlfriend.

For those who wish to enjoy their right to keep and bear arms, the Garden State represents a significant blot on the American escutcheon.

The author explains the current background check process and then adds this....

-----Alas, in order to discourage the citizenry from buying firearms, eleven states have added another — wholly redundant — layer to the sequence, demanding by law that would-be purchasers acquire a permit prior to entering the store. In those jurisdictions it is necessary for buyers to pay a fee and to submit a host of personal information before they receive the government’s seal of approval. Alarmingly, that seal can take up to eight months to be delivered. Thus do many at-risk Americans find themselves in a tricky position: They need a gun to defend themselves or their homes right now, and yet the only way they can legally purchase one is to submit to a long-term and wholly unpredictable bureaucratic process. If you’re in a hurry — as Carol Bowne was — this is a substantial problem. Arguably, abiding by the rules cost Bowne her life.Read more at: Gun-Control Kills People -- New Jersey s Deadly Gun Laws National Review Online

She might have had a better chance with the gun, and now we never know.

You gun control advocates love to throw bodies at the feet of gun rights advocates when it suits you.

Now its your shoes that have blood on them. How does it feel?

He pleaded “guilty to a weapons offense in 2008 after being indicted in 2006 on a charge of aggravated assault with bodily injury. He received a five-year sentence for that offense, which neighbors said was related to an assault on a former girlfriend.”

It sounds like the system in general failed her. If he had been given a stiffer sentence for assaulting an ex girlfriend, maybe the victim in this case never would have met him.

On the other hand, if she had a fire arm she may have been able to fend him off. I wouldn't be against the gun permit process being expedited for people who can prove that they're in danger of bodily harm or death. I would think that a restraining order against a known violent offender would be proof enough.

No law abiding citizen should be denied the right to a firearm, regardless of reason. Its up to the State to figure out how to do any background checks they want to do quickly, and for minimal cost.

She wasn't denied the right to a firearm. She was put through the same process in her state that everybody else is put through.

Those laws are put in place to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and to make sure that law abiding citizens go through the proper channels to ensure both safety to themselves and to the public.

We can't just hand out gun permits to any warm body that walks through the door. I do, however, support an expedited permit process for those able to prove that they're in danger of bodily harm or death. A restraining order against a violent ex should be sufficient proof

You do realize that the criminals you want to keep from getting a gun....could probably get a gun in an hour.....if that? And if you are not a criminal....what exactly are "proper" channels for....?

Too many people who take your point of view haven't researched the issue....you have heard the talking points but examined them no further...you should.....it might change your mind....

the POINT is that the Police dragged their feet in getting her the permit. the Police knew she had filed a formal complaint and knew she had a restraining order out on someone that was threatening to her....

they should have expedited the clearance for her to get the permit.

there should be an expedited manner in order for people just like her with official restraining orders, to get a license...

We do not have such a problem in Maine...just go to a gun show and you can buy one, or buy one or get gifted one from a neighbor if you want one quickly....

It's possible the gun could have saved her, but very possible it would not have and he would have taken possession of it, or she would not have had time to even draw it....in his ambush of her in the driveway....as you said, we will never know....

this guy was an ex-felon...if there was enough reason to put a restraining order out on him...that should have been enough to jail the guy.....imho.

So.....I guess her safe room didn't save her....right? Everything else she did failed...all the things you gun grabbers say should be done failed..........the one thing she didn't have...a gun...because of you gun grabbers......

So you're blaming the chief of police?
Yep...Because NJ Law leaves the decision up to the police Chief in the municipality in which the applicant resides.
New Jersey is one of the most difficult states in which to obtain a permit for any type of firearm.
Carry laws are confusing.
The last time I was familiarized with the basics...
Carrying of a firearm by anyone but sworn peace officers, police officers and other law enforcement officials is illegal.
If a person carries a firearm in their vehicle, it cannot be loaded. The gun and the ammunition must be stowed in separate parts of the vehicle. Ammo in the glove box, gun in the trunk.....That kind of thing. Very restrictive.
One irony....NJ also has a "castle law"....Odd.
