One of the things hurting us so badly in negotiations in Europe over the Ukraine situation is that Russia has trained career diplomats and we have political appointees to got their position by being rich donors. Over 300 experienced Admirals, Generals and commanders have been relieved and replaced by ideological social engineers. There are no professionals to run things.
