74 school shootings in 77 weeks...Worth it's own thread.

A killer is a killer. I have no illusions of rehabilitating criminals.

And I said any crime committed with a firearm not just murder should be punishable by life in prison.

And of course you like your idea better because it puts the blame on innocent people.

The gun industry isn't innocent. They made a cynical decision that crime boosts sales, so we totally need more of that shit.

Which is why they oppose background checks, waiting periods or anything else that might avoid a shooting incident. Got to keep the rubes good and scared so they buy more guns.

We have background checks and waiting periods already so merely opposing those does not change anything.

And IMO it's the people like you who want to ban this or that that are afraid.

Well, the Left is intent on destroying that one as well.

I'll note that without the 2nd, the 1st is left unprotected.

The pen is not mightier than the sword.

In our entire history we have only had one period when the people were justified in rising against a tyrannical government. The government denied freedom, liberty, the right to vote and a fair trial. The government protected terrorists who bombed churches and schools and lynched with impunity

Yet the oppressed did not rely on their second amendment rights, they instead used their first amendment rights along with freedom of assembly

Modern Democracies no longer rely on guns to resolve their grievances

Citizens in modern democracies no longer rely on armed rebellion to effect change or bring down an unpopular government. The power of a free press, the right to assembly and the right to vote is much more effective

Many countries in Europe have almost no guns, yet maintain all those rights.

Unless you do a private sale and go around all those things. With 300 million guns it is not hard to find a private sale.

About how many mass murders were done by way of a private sale?

as long as you are not a felon

it is perfectly legal to build your own firearm

one can buy the parts to put together an ar-15

for under 500 bucks

if you use an 80 percent lower billet

there is no requirement for a background check

4. Mandatory insurance for all guns owned

Suppose to get free speech, you need to register what you want to say with the government, get it approved, pass a background check, complete a waiting period, pay a fee and buy insurance in case you slander anyone and get sued. You on board with that?

Nope.

Words can't take another human life.

The fact that this needs to be explained is mind boggling.

Words can't defend your life either.

At least one.

Background checks are inadequate. If the media can find out in a day that Holmes or Lanza are nuts, then clearly, the gun background checks just aren't trying that hard.

THrow a couple of their Bubba asses in jail, they'll start caring.

Many countries in Europe have almost no guns, yet maintain all those rights.

Many of the European countries that have "almost no guns" also don't have freedom of speech like we do, such as Germany.

There are also some other European countries that do have as many guns as America, yet don't have mass shootings, like Switzerland.

It might have something to do with their cuilture and how their kids are raised, and other laws like keeping criminals locked up and crazies in mental hospitals. But we don't want to think about all the other factors, we can only focus on pushing the Agenda.

Germany doesn't have freedom of speech?

Europe doesn't need armed citizens and is experiencing its longest period of peace and prosperity

No country has as many guns as we do. Switzerland is an extremely rich country and is the only example you have. Maybe if we get that rich and lose all the inequality it will get better for us. The right won't do anything about that either though.

Demographics here. Since the Democratic Party likes keeping the poor, poor- the cesspool bubbles with blood

I have never once mentioned rebellion.

IMO the second amendment while originally written with the prevention of tyranny in mind is more a protection of my right to defend myself my family and my property via the most efficient means, a firearm.

Germany doesn't have freedom of speech?

Not to the extent we do. If you can be jailed for speaking there is no freedom of speech.

Germany only locks up 78,000 of its citizens compared to the 2 million the US locks up. (Per capita, they lock up 1 in 1000 while we lock up 1 in 150)

So, no, locking people up is not the solution.

Now, here's the thing with Germany. Lots of gun ownership over there. But what they don't have is gun ownership as a "right". You have to prove you have a need for a gun and you are responsible.

Which is why they had 258 gun murders last year and we had 11,101.

Population of Germany is something like 82 million compared to 316 million.
In 2010 murders and manslaughter in Germany was 2,218.

So they do have their methods to off someone.

Um no, you think you have a solution is search of a problem.

Listen you anti gun nutters- It's acceptable risk to live in a country such as ours with a gun culture. If you don't like it, go to Europe.

Time to break out the 'Love it or leave it' mantra again

We get it, you're Ok with children being murdered at school so that you can have your toys. That's a good trade off in your mind. You're a true patriot.

Firearms are not toys. And if you libs quit teaching your kids that maybe they would stop playing shootout. Now we have that out of the way

-Geaux

You're exactly right, they're not. But you want to hand them out to everyone like it's christmas morning.
