A Balanced View of Climate Change

I think it is betrayal of the people to follow bad science or made up science or pretend science or manipulated science for political purposes.
You didn't use the terms "bad science", "pretend science" or "manipulated science" in your prior comment with which I disagreed. You said only "the science" If you think you have just restated yourself, you are admitting that you think all science is bad, pretend (perhaps you meant "pseudo") or manipulated. I trust that is NOT the case.

Why do you think all those scientists think we should be alarmed? That we all need to act as expeditiously as possible? What do you think you know that they do not?
Almost all either are receiving salaries or grant monies that wouldn't be available if they didn't advocate the climate alarm mantra. They certainly don't live their lives as if they are alarmed. They jet all over the world for their conferences that include a lot of wining and dining and other entertainment when they could just as easily have Zoom conferences. They aren't using public transportation when they could and they build their homes near the sea just as much as other people do. I am always suspicious of those who demand others do what they say and not what they do.

Reading dysfunction again I see. Have a wonderful day Crick.

Phoenix has AVERAGE summer temps well over 100 degrees in the summer and the highest big city average temps in the country next to Honolulu and Miami which don't have the extremes Phoenix has but have higher winter temperatures. And the Phoenix averages haven't varied by a great deal since early in the 20th Century. It is good that medical science is learning better ways to treat heat related crises, but those crises have been happening for a very long time.

And bear in mind that the population of Phoenix in 1920 was roughly 29,000 people. It is now over 1.6 million people with corresponding pavement, concrete, metal, buildings, human activity etc. that raise the temperature in heavily populated areas. It is amazing that the average temperatures there aren't higher than they are.

Albuquerque population is over 500k and the average summer high temp is about 93 degrees. Los Lunas 20 miles away has a population of less than 20k and an average summer high temp of 88 degrees. Walk out into the desert away from civilization in either place and the temperature will be cooler.

A report released Monday by a group representing state energy officials says the average U.S. electric bill could hit $720 this summer — more than 50 percent higher than in 2014 — largely because global warming is intensifying heat and forcing people to use more air conditioning. In the mid-Atlantic and Pacific Coast, electric bills are expected to go up 12 percent this year alone.

“Usage is going up. This is not going to change … unless something is done about rising temperatures,” said Mark Wolfe, executive director of the National Energy Assistance Directors Association.

...Some households have air conditioning but “won’t turn it on because they’re afraid of the bill,” Wolfe said. The association is trying to get utilities to avoid cutting off service during hot weather to households that haven't made their electricity payments.

How much of the increase is because of mandates for more expensive, less reliable green energy?

Thank you Biden.

Once a mind is closed, it is no longer science but dogma. Science welcomes all points of view, considers all possibilities, and never concludes there is nothing new to learn. It certainly does not shun or cancel those who question it. Once that starts happening we know we aren't dealing with scientists or science any longer but rather we are dealing with politicians with an agenda
Exactly. Science welcomes decent. But come prepared with studies, trials, evidence and consensus. Deniers literally never have anything to add. They just play word games.

Well the so-called 'deniers' seem to have charts and graphs as valid as those pushing climate change as an existential threat to human life as we know it.

No they don’t; what few charts and graphs they have are misinterpreted and totally miss prove everything they say regardless. . One denier posted and keeps posting a graph NOT A PHOTO that showed a white area over Greenland claiming it represents ice. It did not. It was a topographical map and the white represented ELEVATION. THERE WAS A LEGEND PRINTED UNDER IT he couldn’t even read. It’s hysterical.

Another bogus set of data deniers claimed the temperature in the atmosphere has not significantly increased. No one claimed it has because atmospheric heat isn’t measured it’s so inconsistent. What isn’t, is surface heat. We take temperatures at the surface where IR is reflected or absorbed and generates heat. It’s hilarious how dumb deniers are. We measure CO2 levels at one general layer in the atmosphere.
btw, they refuse to even give the sources of their little pictures and graphs and data and claims.

Lastly, they tout bogus support from Drs and scientist, none of whom are presently doing any climate research and ALL of whom they claim have any climate education which is false…..and their so called credentials are from INSTITUTIONS that refute their own BS.

Thread needs context for what we are evolving towards so we can talk adaptation more concretely versus ????

Here's the problem:

CBS News senior weather producer David Parkinson said late May is typically a very busy time for tornadoes, but explained that climate change could be causing severe storms to occur more frequently.

"We can't in any way call one tornado something that's attached to climate change, but we can say the pattern of which things are increasing and getting stronger, that likely is related to a warming world," Parkinson said.

Which means maybe. How many trillions of dollars should we spend on 'maybe'?

It’s 2C colder than the previous interglacial period. Do you think things were different back then?

But the planet hasn't reached the peak temperature of the previous interglacial period. Which is why he didn't post a graph showing it has.

As for his explanation for why seas are 7.5m below the previous interglacial, it's wrong. The dominant component isn't melting ice, it's thermal expansion. So, no, the planet hasn't reached the peak temperature of the previous interglacial period and the lower sea level proves this.
