So strange. Conservatives will be the first ones bitching about tightening the borders and then they'll be the first ones bitching about finding cheap labor.
If by some fluke of nature, the union goons back off and cease asking for more than they are worth, stop digging into to profits of a successful company just because they can...then maybe, just maybe there won't be a need to seek the cheap labor that comes across the border begging for relief from squalid conditions in their homeland.

Sleaze bag unions are the principle cause of our shipping factories and jobs overseas. The dumbass bastards that join them are slitting their own throats as they buy silk suits, limos and high style living for their "organizers". Today's unions are nothing more than legalized mafia!

And America roars with laughter. Without unions and government, business would have all of us working 12 hours a day for $4 an hour with no benefits. Child labor would be in vogue. The history of labor in this country, when business is unregulated, is one of exploitation.

nothing beats hysterical libs over morning coffee.....:coffee:

A serious discussion on this needs to begin with the idea that free movement of labor and capital are conservative causes. Once the GOP recognizes this they can start to reclaim the Hispanic vote and win elections. They will not until they do this.

Basically..yeah.

The whole idea of "illegals" for people who "need" them is to create an underclass of cheap labor that weakens the bargaining power of Americans.

It's really something that the "conservative" Joe Sixpack fell for this.

Hispanic political leaders say 71% of Hispanic voters voted for Obama.
i'm sure you've heard , the Socialist agenda is saying the Republican party must IGNORE the fact millions of Hispanics came here illegally, FORGET about demanding these people abide by the law, and INVITE them to have the same status as an American.

and if they don't get what they want, they're going to go vote Democrat.

i don't know about the rest of you, but my answer to that is, BYE!

they're trying to blackmail Conservatives.
i'm supposed to be scared that some Republican politician , who didn't do enough about the immigration problem, won't have a job?

threatening to join the Democrat Party Of Evil is going to hurt me?
in 50 years the Democrats will destroy every freaking reason why you came here!

First of all, illegal immigrants don't vote. Secondly, have fun trying to deport twelve to twenty million people. I mean really, good luck with that...

And the hardliners wonder why people say they're wrecking the party.

One can only shake one's head, y'know?

They've got these weird notions about immigration.

They think most of America's immigrants came here "legally". Which is a joke.

And they think there is some sort of "line" of people that are going through the system in an orderly manner. That's a joke too.

America's immigration laws are a patchwork of very different rules for different people.

And this is in a country which ACTIVELY promotes immigration.

Wrong.
Real conservatives are in favor of free movement of labor and capital.

But they're not in favor of opening the border.

and the lefties are not in favor of freeing up capital....

instead there is just more repression from taxes and regulations....

Lowering taxes doesn't "free up capital". Same with regulations.

A myth proved over and over again by conservative administration, which lowered taxes and softened regulations.

Now, if you want to discuss something constructive, why don't we discuss how we can get these illegals working good jobs and getting them to pay their share of the tax burden rather than just sucking off of the welfare state. A lot of them actually do want to work, but we are going to have to do a better job of educating them and get them to stop fearing deportation so they continue to work under the table if at all.

That's a very rational and logical approach which was used by the original Americans when they experienced an unexpected influx of illegal aliens. They taught these poor starving stragglers how to fish in the bay and grow corn and even helped them build new shelters.

It's laughable that white Americans don't understand that they too are illegal aliens, and were not invited to this country. Blacks are not illegal aliens. They were brought here by force by the white illegals who had no problem pushing the original Americans off their lands and shoving them into reservations.

But yeah, let's just kick ass with this new bunch coming in.

you are wrong....

Nearly every empirical study of taxes and economic growth published in a peer reviewed academic journal finds that tax increases harm economic growth.
...
This review of empirical studies of taxes and economic growth indicates that there are not a lot of dissenting opinions coming from peer-reviewed academic journals. More and more, the consensus among experts is that taxes on corporate and personal income are particularly harmful to economic growth, with consumption and property taxes less so. This is because economic growth ultimately comes from production, innovation, and risk-taking.
...
In sum, the U.S. tax system is a drag on the economy. Pro-growth tax reform that reduces the burden of corporate and personal income taxes would generate a more robust economic recovery and put the U.S. on a higher growth trajectory, with more investment, more employment, higher wages, and a higher standard of living.

Sorry bout that,

1. No one knows how to fix immigration, infact there is no fix, people willing to work are needed, I suppose it doesn't matter how they get here as long as they get here, if the American government doesn't want them here they should put a stop to *all* the social services available to them, thats why they come, *free everything*, just don't get legally married here and its all free, they marry secretly in their own countries.
2. On the most part we need these immigrants, so unless we are ready to piss off a huge numbers of guests here, then we need to carve them out a spot here for them to find some comfort.
3. We as a nation would be wise to just annex all of central America, destroy those borders reform it and develope it.
4. Join hands with our neighbors, for the betterment of this hemisphere.
5. Desolve all those corrupt governments.

Not wrong at all.

History proves me out.

Reagan lowering taxes on rich folks? Led to raising taxes on the poor and middle class. It also led to massive bailouts of the financial industry.

Part 2: Bush lowering taxes on rich folks? Led to raising taxes on the poor and middle class. It also led to massive bailouts of the financial industry.

You need a new act.

How do you explain the fact that despite already having the lowest personal tax rates in the developed world, the US regularly has poorer economic growth than countries with much higher tax rates?

Also, as the only country in the developed world without a VAT or GST-type tax, why do you think the US has been so reluctant to move towards tax based on consumption rather than income?

No consumption tax because the libs harp that it would disproportionately affect those with the lowest incomes.

We don't have to deport them. Revoke the business license of anyone caught with illegal immigrants working for them. Businesses will be too scared to hire illegals, illegal immigrants leave on their own, problem solved. Just enforce the laws we already have! We don't need some 2000 page bill that will cost trillions and not solve anything, but I guarantee that's what you'll get if people keep calling for "comprehensive immigration reform".

We can work on more work visas, we can work on restructuring our immigration process, but they won't mean a damn thing unless you stop the flow first. If your boat springs a leak do you start bailing out water or plug the damn hole first?

The great majority are embedded in our social, cultural, and, increasingly, political framework because of their legal family and friends.

They are going nowhere is the point, regardless of your suggestions. They are 'home'.

Recognize that and work with in that framework.

It's their choice if they would stay in that environment.

Let's look past what to do with the ones that are here for a second. How do we stop more from coming in?

Well, that's a good point.. and I agree. Unfortunately, what will happen is what always happen... we let 'em all in, grant them citizenship, promise to put a halt to the flood of illegals, then do nothing, wait 10 - 20 years and tell us we can't do anything about the 20,000,000 illegals and we need a path to citizenship and then the cycle begins again.

And it doesn't help that you have a Mexican government with a formal policy of exporting its undesirables (who probably won't vote for them anyway) to the U.S. where they'll be assured to vote Democrat if they can because the Democrats promise them lots of free goodies.

.

If we significantly cut corporate tax rates, took health insurance responsibilities & costs off the backs of businesses, and switched from pensions to 401Ks, you'd witness of flood of capital pouring into this country, the likes of which you've never seen.

You are confusing a flat tax with a consumption tax. They aren't the same. If we changed to a consumption tax, it would penalize those who spent their lives paying income taxes and delaying consumption until retirement.

They are not trying to blackmail conservatives. They are part of the electorate just like conservatives are. Just like conservatives, they can vote on those issues that impact them the most

It goes beyond immigration. It also goes to conservative mandated "show me your papers" laws. It goes to conservative mandated "English as an official language laws"

Conservatives are not doing the Republican Party much good
