America's One Party System

If you don't like the current system what's your alternative ?

A constitutionally limited government that protects the equal rights of everyone.
I believe that's what we have or at least started out with if we had that and lost how do you get it back?

That's the question, eh?

The first step would be convincing a significant portion of the public we need to, and that seems like an uphill battle.

That was the original idea. Getting it back means people reading and informing themselves, then intelligently choosing (good luck). As a start, throwing out the the two party dictatorship would be good.

Throwing it out that does seem to be a popular theme of course doing that leaves a void and a power vacuum to be filled so then the question becomes what fills it? Before something gets thrown out you better be real sure of what will take it's place Egypt threw Mubarak out at this point I don't think they traded up.

When we threw out the British, we didn't know what would happen. At first, it was pretty idealistic and pretty good. What it's become in a couple of hundred years is lamentable and mostly the fault of the people. The profiteers and politicians only took advantage of the opportunity.

Can you expand on the relationship between Democrats and corporations?

No, not in that context because you'd have to combine both parties to see the big picture. You can't just look at a portion of the same party to do that.

Here's an easy to understand primer to get you started on your quest to realize we really just have two factions of the same party:

I don't see how that reflects corporate influence on the Democratic party. Democrats stand for environmentalism and social equality.

You can start with Gun Control and unchecked executions of American citizens, Buying votes via handouts and the 17th Amendment (the way we elect Senators/death of Federalism) and most importantly PRINTING A LOT OF MONEY.

With Republicans you can start with the suspending of due process, warantless invasions of privacy and Union busting and allowing Al Queda to attack the United States on 9/11 in order to invade the Middle East and defend the value of the PETRO-DOLLAR.

I'm not hopeful when I see how goddamned stupid people are. A country like ours can't survive without a middle class, a vibrant middle class. But we keep selling out to these damned politicians actually believing this party or that has the answers. Sure they do! Look how well they've done so far. No, we'll have a handful of billionaires, a few millionaires and the rest of us will be fucked. And we allowed it to happen. Shit, we voted for it to happen!

That's easy!

How does a democrat, running on an anti-war platform, whind up continuing a war (Afghanistan) his predecessor started?

Why is it, 70% of the country is against these wars, yet we're still fighting them?

How does a President wanting to fix the cost of healthcare in America, whind up omitting the one thing (public option) that would've of drove costs down?

Why is it, that no matter whether a democrat or republican is President, whether republicans or democrats control the House or Senate, it's always business as usual in Washington?

Currently, there are 39,000 lobbiests in Washington collecting paychecks from various industry corporations. Now think about that. Company's do not shell out that kind of cash, without getting something in return.

Countries don't pull out of wars overnight.

You're so blind there is really no point I can see in talking to you, but here it goes. Yes, Democrats want 100% pure good and Republicans want 100% pure evil, good call. Dems simply can't do 1% good because because Republicans have achieved 100% pure evil. Republicans are all powerful while Dems are the weakest party to ever exist... making me wonder why anyone votes for them seeing even with the House Senate and Presidency all Dem they could't manage a single evil Republican policy repeal, or end a single war.

List if you will the repeal of Bush era policies. try and not play dumb and credit Obama for ending Iraq when in fact it was Bush and Obama wanted to stay but by Bush's contract with the Iraq Government couldn't legally.

I support these two things because they require ever larger Government to administer them.

Although I think your politics are fucked up beyond all repair, at least you're honest. There's nothing honest about our current one party system which is operated by bribery.

I think American Communist suffers from an overdose of sarcasm...

True communists do not believe in government, remember?

Theoretical Communism is the belief in the gradual erosion of a centralized socialist government until no government is needed because every aspect of society is decided by workers collectives.

Yeah that's right...pretty much everything most of you think you know about communism is wrong.

Understandable, of course, given that every self proclaimed communist nation on earth is the anthesis of what theoretical communism is supposed to look like.

But note, please how similarly the mechanics of a theoretical communist nation would be to that of the theoretical Libertarian society.

Both assume that the producers need no overarching government, because the producers can work collaboratively without the need of government.

Sort of an amusing collision of political theories isn't it?

Some call it a Corporate Oligarchy. There's many names. But it essentially boils down to the same thing every time - a one-party system.

This is right on the money!

Which is why I think we need to vote out all incumbants until we get the government that represents us, instead of them.

Voting out incumbents isn't going to solve the problem of our political system. Until we stop allowing people and corporations to fund out legislators, the bullshit will continue.

Legislators spend a full two years each cycle doing nothing but campaigning because they need the cash. It shouldn't be cash they are campaigning for, but votes. That's not going to happen with the way it's configured now and Citizens United just made it worse.

Sheldon Richman is correct again.

McCain calls Paul, Cruz, Amash ‘wacko birds’

Posted by Rachel Weiner on March 8, 2013 at 10:34 am

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is continuing to criticize his fellow Republicans for their filibuster of incoming CIA Director John O. Brennan over drone policy. In an interview with the Huffington Post, McCain referred to Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) as “wackos.”
