Analyzing A Practical Minimum Wage

If you weren't sitting at the net mentally masturbating all day, you might get a real job and get to retire and mentally masturbate on the net all day!

Excuse me? I am already partially retired. How I spend my day is none of your concern.

I have to disagree.
It's nice to have an idea of where you are coming from.
Are you a burger flipper with a vested interest in seeing the min wage go up?
Or just some liberal do gooder....?

It's kinda like arguing immigration on the internet....I wanna know if I'm arguing with a mexican.

The bottom 50% of American wage earners - which includes all who you claim make less than a living wage (whatever that is) - already pay no federal income tax. They get a free ride on the backs of those who do have to pay those taxes. Feel better now?

That is simply false information.

I am a semi-retired small business owner and real estate developer. I own property and set up businesses on those properties. Gas stations, restaurants, movie theaters, tanning salons, delis, clothing outlets, and I set up a little construction company too, among other things. I don't really bother with daily operations anymore though for the individual businesses.

Good God, man. You say you aren't a socialist but you certainly post as one. No one said there is anything wrong with clerking or cab driving. You seem to think you have a monopoly on compassion. That's very liberal of you. The fact remains if one CHOOSES to settle on such non-skilled work, one runs the risk of struggling financially. It's not for YOU to choose for others which, BTW, is also a very liberal habit.

I don't support a living wage out of compassion. I support it because it makes good economic sense. Even Henry Ford knew to pay his workers well enough to afford his product, when he was the largest employer in the nation.

STOP! We're not talking about skilled line workers. We are talking about unskilled min wage earners and as already established, gov't mandated wages make very poor economic sense.

And if I prove it will you get off your high horse, admit you have no idea what you are talking about and quit this thread?

Most min wage jobs actually do have a skillset. I know plenty of people who make a good amount of money, who wouldn't know the first thing about how to be a good fast food worker or grocery clerk.

Gov't mandate min wage, if it were a living wage, would cut welfare in HALF, right now, today. It would also create a MAJOR boost in spending and market liquidity. Both ideas make good economic sense.

I know people who get foodstamps, but still pay income tax. They make roughly min wage.

Regrettably you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

STOP with your anecdotal BS. They pay FICA (Social Security) but not federal income taxes. They get a free ride on the backs of everyone who does pay them.

of course without the food stamps and other crippling liberal programs they would have far more incentive to work

Incentive is not the problem. The problem is that there aren't enough jobs that pay a living wage. Half of all people on welfare today have a job. That is not a problem with laziness. That is a problem with corporate greed exp;oiting (and lobbying for) socialized labor.

That is a problem with corporate greed

of course under capitalism corps are not allowed to be greedy. They must offer the best products and jobs in the world or go bankrupt.

Isn't learning fun?

Walmart isn't turning a profit on the best products and services. They are turning a profit on Chinese slave labor, and a socialized domestic workforce.
