Another wise investment for California

$18M for just 3 miles seems kind of pricey, but generally these things end up being worth the money in the end and it will be good for when the Olympics come back there.

My city built an extensive and expensive set of walking/hiking/biking trails spanning both sides of the river that really has turned into something nice over about a 20 year period. It connects some different parts of the city and some parks & monuments, has lots of space for various things, bathrooms, art installations, etc etc etc.

going.

What the hell. If you have all this money, spend it.

My liberal city is not much different. The Mayor's grandson kept getting busted riding is dirt bike on the street. So the city Council voted in his idea for a dirt bike park at 2.5 million dollars. Mind you the city is not replacing retiring police officers and some of their cars are over ten years old. With all the murders here, there is only one detective per shift available to handle all of this work.

It eventually was reversed given the fact it would not help matters much. Kids don't have a pickup truck with a dirt bike trailer to get to the park, so they would still be riding on the streets to get there. Then there is the liability factor if somebody got hurt.

But this is Democrat politics for ya. Just as long as it doesn't spread to the rest of the country.

For $40 Million Dollars they could build housing for all the Illegal Aliens sleeping on the streets, shooting Heroin, and taking a shit on your porch.

Nancy Pelosi would like some new neighbors.

Investing in parks never makes financial sense

But over time, they pay off in quality of life

They do the same stupid shit bike path stuff up in Portland, OR. Meanwhile their 100 year old sewer system routinely spills raw toxic sewage into the Willamette and Columbia rivers damaging native salmon runs.

The LA river isn't a park, and it actually being a river may be debatable.

"A continuous trail is one of 28 projects that Metro aims to complete in time for the 2028 Olympics, and work on paths that would close those gaps is expected to wrap up in the next six years."

hopefully they have all the turds up by then and a place for the camping homeless to go.

Yet there are miles of bike paths along it

Let’s face it, LA is fucking ugly no matter where you put a park
SF is beautiful, SD is beautiful....LA? Not much to look at

Travel to LA regularly during NBA season just to watch the Lakers. Fly during game day then after the game we go to clubs.
It’s awesome aside from that I don’t have much good to say about LA.
Then fly back to SD the next day.

Sure, it was a majestic location and they have the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately you have to drive or walk through the shit to see any of those.

The illegals have dozens of agencies helping them. Hispanics don't mind living a dozen to a studio apartment either. They will roll out a sleeping bag between the fridge and the stove.

Have you noticed how many of the working homeless are black? The service agencies have negotiated with landlords to evict blacks and rent to higher occupancy hispanics for more rent.

I know Hispanics don't mind living like cockroaches, haven't noticed a higher percentage of homeless being black. Although, after 3-4 weeks of not taking a shower they all start to look the same.
