Column: Global gas shortage helps lift prices in United States

LONDON, Oct 19 (Reuters) - U.S. gas prices recently climbed to their highest in real terms for more than a decade, as energy shortages and spiking prices in Europe and Asia work their way back up the supply chain to the United States.

STOP THE SQUEAL. LOL

But it does appear that the Biden admin is not pushing for more intl gas exploration.

My usage is left than half of that from this time last year but my bill has tripled!
And it’s only the beginning of December…

I used 7 therms less and my bill was 5 bucks more.

Nothing to lose sleep over.

It's up like 65% this year, but production is up over last year too, and even in the 2008 recession it was still twice what it was today
Thanks!

Mine is about the same as a year ago.
Wait until you get your first heating bill at the end of December.
in 2019 LPG was less than $2.40/ gal. Today thanks to Joey Xi Bai Dung the cost per gallon of LPG to heat a home has risen to $3.59/gal

We're all electric here, but have lots firewood
just in case of a power outage. ...no running water when the well pump motor shuts down, being one of the biggest issues then.

Gas generators are a big seller after the February freeze this year.

Solar panels should be cheaper soon , btw.

Thank you, as I stated the government controls the price of energy.

Your link says their are shortages. Shortages created by government policy.

It is clear to see, the government bans drilling, franking, exploration as well as passing 100's of rules and regulations against oil. From banking to even the covid mandates.

All government actions. The government dictates the economy, period.

My last gas bill was 70 dollars for the month. The bill didn't go up from last your very much if at all.

I'm sorry yours went up so much.

I have a heat pump on my furnace. It helps keep my heat bills down and it has an AC on it to keep cool in the summer.

You might want to look into getting one. They're great.

The gov may not dictate but they certainly have major influence.
Demmunists do their best to strangle the economy and create dependency.

I totally disagree. Our government, 1,000's, 10's of thousands of rules, regulations, laws, executive orders, etc.. Banning the drilling of oil in California, The Gulf of Mexico, Alaska, and who knows where else.

Our government very much has dictated the cost of gasoline, of energy.

Within 5 miles of my home there are no less than 7 working gas fracking operations. Most of it goes overseas. We don`t need to explore any new developments.

After reading all the replies from the far right including the OP, they seem to believe or want our nation to be a communist nation.

They seem to believe that the government owns that oil and can dictate how it's pumped, who it's sold to and what the price is.

The government doesn't control gas prices no matter what the far right wants.

The far right on this board sure doesn't know what communism is.

If you all want to have lower gas bills take action yourself to lower your bills. No one is stopping you from putting a heat pump on your furnace. No one is stopping you from using less oil.

Stop expecting the government to do everything for your lazy asses.

They were against socialism before they were for it.

Aside from killing Keystone and begging unstable foreign nations to produce more oil, what are Democrats doing about it?
