All three, Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri do that, the data is anonymous so the third party contractors have no idea who it is or where it's coming from. It helps them get responses correct, how else can they improve the systems? Granted the units hear everything when powered on so there is that besides Siri is so far behind the other two they may never catch up.
Apple suspended the practice, for now because conspiracy nuts like you make mountains out of mole hills.......

What kind of idiot buys a device whose only job is to listen for voice commands, and then whine when it does what it is designed to do?
You miss the key word and/or point being made (the word is command), as in the owner commands it by voice to operate, and not it operating without being commanded. Listening is operating without being commanded right ?? Is that what it's doing ??

If it's not listening for a command, how will it know when it gets one? You gonna walk across the room to shake it or push a button to wake it up? If you don't want it to do what it was designed to do, don't buy it.
The question is this then, are people so lazy they can't walk across a room to wake the AI up ?? Just leave it on to keep listening eh ??

They got mic mute on the Google home, and we either use that after every use or unplug it after use. No listening going on in our home by these devices.

It still listens when on mute

if you have a mac mute the sound button hit siri ask it something it still responds..

It’s a question that PC makers should be asking themselves. Some, like Dell, say they’re working on a solution. But for whatever reason, reassuring customers that their conversations aren’t being monitored doesn’t seem to be a high priority, especially with consumer laptops. Fortunately, one recent model from HP signals a way forward.

Why your laptop's always-listening microphone should be as easy to block as your webcam

Yes, and it has been proven now that when this technology ends up in the hands or control of ones enemies, then all bets are off. We have been putting the cart before the horse for way to long now, and this has been due to our lust for technological things at any cost. Might be that those who have control of this technology today, might have been the enemy of the people all along, and therefore in a bid for globalism they would of course use the technology to keep track of those who might oppose such a thing when those building blocks are being slowly put into place.

CIA Chief: We'll Spy on You Through Your Dishwasher

If you use a smart speaker, you know all of the conveniences and delights that make it more than just a glorified paper weight. But, admit it, you've probably given it some privacy side-eye from time to time. After all, it is a microphone that just sits in your house waiting for a wake word to start recording what you say. Here's how to tighten the reins on what Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri can hear, when, and how it gets used.

How To Tighten Your Amazon Echo and Google Home Privacy

NEW YORK, NY – Fox News Sr. Judicial Analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano appeared with Stuart Varney on Varney & Co to discuss the privacy implications with Google’s new Nest technology. Napolitano argued that the federal government would have the ability to tap into your home device and see what consumers are doing at anytime.

Napolitano revealed that the CIA has the ability to connect with microchips in dishwashers and microwaves. Apparently with this new technology the government will have the ability to detect when consumers are at home and even where they are in the home specifically.

Google acquired Nest labs last week for $3.2 billion dollars. The appliance tracks consumer’s schedules in order to regulate the temperature of their homes. Nest’s CEO stated that the company won’t be handing that data over to the federal government, but with the way the NSA operates, that probably won’t even be necessary. The CEO of Nest Tony Fadell stated that the “learning thermostat” will be operated on “transparent” “opt-in” practices. In an explanation posted to Nest’s website, Fadell assures consumers that: “Our privacy policy clearly limits the use of customer information to providing and improving Nest’s products and services. We’ve always taken privacy seriously and this will not change.”

Judge Napolitano: Government Can Spy On You Through Your Dishwasher - Truth And Action
Not being able to resolve privacy issues or problems be it technical or other in a very consumer friendly simple way with these companies, seems to speak volumes on the arrogance of these tech companies whom seem to be making it complicated or almost impossible to deal with them on purpose.

So what's up with that ?? They have been given far to much power in a world of technology that only our most sensitive law enforcement agencies once controlled in the old days, and now we have spoiled rotten instant billionaires being able to just drop in on the American family anytime they want ?? To do what? Maybe learn how to drive or manipulate the American family into becoming something they want for it to become or to do something they want without the American's truly realizing what is actually happening to them ?? To drive dollars into their pockets by using technology as a means of doing so without the citizens truly understanding fully what is going on ?? All the money made from selling people's information, and yet not one tiny percent of that money going back into the consumers pockets for whom was allowing it to be sold like that ?? Isn't that like someone coming onto your property, and stealing your bottles you gathered up to sell later, and then going to sell them without giving you any part of those sale's afterwards ??? Maybe this is why there were no regulations or a Constitution put forth early on by government concerning the looking out for the general welfare of the citizens over the internet, because the players new where all this technology was heading way back when, and when it was realized as to what it could do with it.

The "Tower of Babylon" might be historically jealous as to where this thing might be heading today.

Got one, and we unplug it after the grandkids use it to listen to their music. Heck the smart phone is probably more of a menacing thing than any stand alone gadgets are. Discuss.

Sometimes I can take the smart phone out of my shirt pocket, and swipe the screen to find a web browser open on a web page that I never purposely went to on my own, but there it is causing me to scratch my head thinking huh ? Conspiracy ?? Who knows really.... LOL
Android phone? Apple phone? Android is much more invasive.

Good for you. I don't see any reason for you to whine about being listened to.
