Wait a minute now. I am confused. Both sides are calling the other side Communists. Life just doesn't make any sense anymore. And it's too cold to go fishing to iron things out.

Only one party seeks an authoritarian dictatorship when the means of production are controlled by the central authority based on socialist redistribution of wealth.
Calling Republicans "Communist" is utterly stupid, the act of a moron. Which is an apt description for democrats.
A couple of points here.
It hasn't been only the Lefties (notice I didn't say Liberals) that want to use the Military for their own ends. You can't count foreign wars (police actions) in on this. But it's been primarily the Rightees (notice I didn't say Conservatives) that scream to high heave that when the time comes, the US Military will side with them. So we can discount that idea completely from this discussion.
You are right about what Communism is. What you are wrong about is that it can work as a Government for more than a tens of tens of population. Once you reach a certain number of population, it falls flat on it's face. The ONLY workable Commune or Communist system in the World is in Israel in the Kiosks. They have less than 100 people in the villages and Communes or Communism works fine for them. These do work. But the problem is, they are slowly dying out. The Children go off to the Universities and many times don't return. The Kiosk is frozen in time and it's a big and wonderful world out there. So you Communist label doesn't work.
Yes, Many claims that the old USSR and China are Communist nations but that would be a lie. Those always have been either Dicatorships (I.E. Stalin and Mao) or Oliarchies. And the only wealth they have "Redistributed" has gone to the Uber Rich who are the ones really in charge. When you dig deep, you will see many similarities to our System here where the Uber Rich are controlling things. The only real difference is, they are more honest about it and their people know better.
Then you scream to high heaven that Capitalism is the answer. Like Communism, Capitalism only works in it's pure form is a very small scale. A Capitalist Company can make it's own electricity, makes it own fuel, control the workforce and be completely self sufficient as long as it's very, very small. I believe you could find a couple or three tropical islands that would fit that bill. But you will also find Extreme Wealth in a few hands and abject poverty in most of the population that does not benefit from the Capitalism.
When Capitalism grows past a certain point, it becomes dependent on outside sources for things like water, fuel, electricity, safety, roads, etc.. Those things are NOT Capitalistic. Those are Social things hence they are Socialist. Now the Capitalists and the workers are going to have to pay taxes to pay for those services. And Taxes are always social in nature. The larger the Capitalists grow the more the Social Programs grow and the more the Taxes grow. Then something happens. The Capitalists need protections from the other Capitalists. Capitalists are noted for being more than a little blood thirsty. Enter a Social relief valve. Al Capone and Diamond Jim were Capitalists without that Social Relief and look how that worked out during their reign. Say hello to my Little Buddy cured all arguments, right?
Capitalism, Socialism and Communism cannot exist in large numbers. In fact, Capitalism and Socialism are actually Economic Models, not governments. Communism only works in groups of less than 100.
You leave out the Fascists. I don't have to wonder why. If you read the doctrine or writings of Mussolini of 1923 you will find similarities in our Current President. You will also see what made Spains Government survive all these years sine 1936. Reading up on Spanish History from 1930 to 1939 would explain things a lot to you and you would see Fascism that works. Then read up on Italian History from 1923 to 1943 and see where Fascism failed miserably even though it started out with them doctrines.
You would also learn where there isn't a whole hill of difference when the Left and the Right go wrong. They end up the same place. So we have Mussolini versus Lenin. Franco's Fascists against the Spanish Socialists. Opposition worked well and the other failed big time. Only Franco's Fascists succeeded and continue even today.
