Are today's Southern Conservatives any different than Southern Conservatives from the Civil War?

That sounds like a pretty good answer to the OP. No, conservatives of today are not the same as the dead conservatives of 175 years ago. If "conservatives" killed uppity blacks back then and champion them today (Clarence Thomas reference for those of you who were incarcerated in government schools), they can't be the same. By the same token, if "liberals" (and gasp, they were almost entirely driven by Christianity), championed blacks 175 years ago and do high tech lynching of uppity blacks today, they also can't be the same.

First of all I wasn't aware that Supreme Court nominees going before Senate hearings was a crime.

Explain that to us.

Looking at or talking to a white woman wasn't a crime either, but that didn't save the lives of the black men killed for doing so. That's the whole point.

Some black people were lynched for throwing stones. Skipping a rock across a lake could lead to death

You mean if they did it in front of Robert Byrd, right?

The guy who apologized and said he was wrong, unlike the guy the GOP had who raped his BLACK teen (under age) house keeper? Who the GOP praised? lol

If you want to open up that can 'o worms you could ask if democrats are any different from the angry nut cases who conspired to kill Lincoln and went on to form the KKK and murdered civil rights workers during the democrat party's segregationist era. The dirty little secret is that democrats still subscribe to the plantation mentality that people of Color need to be cared for by the overseers in the federal government and not allowed to get too upity like Clarence Thomas and Condie Rice.

GOPers/CONSERVATIVES today:

"If our party is not welcoming and inclusive, young people and increasingly other voters will continue to tune us out."

That was the Republican Party's own take on the 2012 election as it acknowledged in an autopsy report (otherwise known as the Growth & Opportunity Project) that it was failing to appeal to minority voters.

Unfortunately, too many Republicans have already forgotten this lesson, a reality made all the clearer by the response to recent revelations that House Majority Whip Steve Scalise spoke to a white supremacist group 12 years ago.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was just one of those who seemed more interested in making excuses than holding Republicans to the standard they had supposedly set for themselves.

...Unfortunately, it feels like every time a Republican is caught behaving like a racist in the 21st century, prominent members of the GOP try to change the subject to Democrats behaving badly instead of denouncing what is going on.

GOP Censures Member for Racist Posts and Calls for Resignation
The Republican National Committee’s executive committee voted Wednesday to censure a party leader who has repeatedly posted racist and homophobic material to social media.

‘Birthers’ were given prominent speaking roles at the Republican convention in Tampa, Florida.

Newt Gingrich labelled Obama “The greatest food stamp President in American history,” a remark clearly designed to rile up white America.

In a rant on Benghazi, Sarah Palin wrote on her facebook wall: “President Obama’s shuck and jive shtick with these Benghazi lies must end.” As CNN’s Roland Martin stated:

“Shucking and jiving” have long been words used as a negative assessment of African Americans, along the lines of a “foot shufflin’ Negro.” In fact, I don’t recall ever hearing the phrase used in reference to anyone white.

Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal publicly cited a Bible verse calling for President Obama to be killed, his wife to be widowed, and his children to be orphaned. He’s the very same guy who forwarded an email to state house Republicans referring to the First Lady as “Mrs. YoMamma.” And Marilyn Davenport, an elected member of the Orange County (California) Republican Central Committee, forwarded her own email in April of last year that included a doctored photo of the President and his parents as monkeys. Four months later, Colorado Congressman Doug Lamborn candidly said during a radio interview that he didn’t “even want to have to be associated with … (President Obama). It’s like touching a tar baby …”

You mean the conservatives who did that? lol

Not all Republicans are racists, but what follows is but a brief recap exposing some who are. Not all Republicans are racists, but not all Republicans who are racists are as clumsily overt or politically inept as those in these examples. Not all Republicans are racists, but the party is permeated with racists, it is saturated with racists. Its racist policies must be read in the context of that saturation.

This list could go on. No doubt, many readers could offer their own additions. And this behavior will go on. It has gone on. As I wrote just three months into the Obama presidency:

They hated President Clinton, and tried to destroy him. But one of their elected governors didn't talk secession. They didn't talk revolution. They didn't attempt (and miserably fail) to launch nationwide protests against him. Bill Clinton was a lot of things. He was not black.

If Republicans don t like being called racists they can stop behaving like racists

GOP’s rodeo of racism blows up
Anti-Obama ugliness resurges as birther-in-chief Donald Trump joins top Republicans in Iowa. Coincidence?

It’s been quite a week for anti-Obama racism. At the Missouri State Fair Sunday, rodeo fans cheered to see a “clown” in an Obama mask get run down by a bull. On Friday in Florida the president faced a gaggle of protesters on the way to address a disabled veterans’ group; one carried a sign reading “Kenyan Go Home.” Three days earlier, Arizonans protested Obama’s visit by singing “Bye Bye Black Sheep.” One man mocked him by calling him “47 percent Negro;” another held a sign that read, “Impeach the Half-White Muslim!”

Also on Sunday, the same day as the Missouri State Fair incident, ABC’s “This Week” hosted the birther-in-chief, Donald Trump, who was fresh from a visit to the right-wing Family Leadership Summit in Iowa and a golf outing with GOP House Speaker John Boehner. When Jon Karl asked him, “You don’t still question [Barack Obama] was born in the United States, do you?” Trump let loose his tiresome birther spew. “I have no idea,” Trump replied. “Was there a birth certificate? You tell me. You know, some people say that was not his birth certificate. I’m saying I don’t know. Nobody knows and you don’t know either, Jonathan.”

With Republicans like Boehner and Iowa’s Family Leader embracing Trump as a loyal and treasured party figure, and mainstream media figures like Karl treating him like a legitimate newsmaker, it’s clear that the party, and some of the media, learned nothing from its 2012 drubbing

GOP s rodeo of racism blows up - Salon.com

After 1964, when the Civil Rights Act passed under a Democratic administration, America’s racists switched to the Republican Party. The history of the electoral map makes this quite clear. 2016 Presidential Election Interactive Map and History of the Electoral College

After the Act passed, the electorate in the south went to the Republican party. The only exceptions to this are in 1968 when the South actually voted for George Wallace (who ran as an American Independent; a party that had very pro-segregation views) and Jimmy Carter, an evangelist from the South who unlike future Democrats, would have the backing of popular evangelists.

You can see the voting trends for yourself below.

In other words, the Democratic party indeed used to be the party of racists, but this changed after 1964. Those who attempt to tie the Democratic party to racism rely well into the past in order to claim that the Democratic party is the party of racism.

Libturd morons like you have a hysterical understanding of what the South was like during segregation.

Emmett Till was killed at 14 for whistling at a white woman. You could do a little research. Funny, I'm never called liberal.

One example? So?

  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upset about a racial name-calling that occurred earlier that night, several black men savagely beat a random white man who had had nothing to do with the incident. He slipped away from his attackers, but they forced him to swim into a lake to escape. He drowned. The three men were sentenced to less than a year in jail.
  • Massachusetts. Four black men decided to murder the next white person they saw. That unlucky soul was a college student from Boston, whom the men stabbed to death.
  • Indiana. A black man was arrested for killing seven white people with a shotgun. He explained that he murdered his victims due to his “deep-rooted hatred” of white people.
  • Miami, Florida. The leader of a black supremacist sect (i.e., the “Yaweh ben Yaweh cult”) was convicted of the murders of several white people. He ordered his followers to kill any and all “white devils.” They killed at least seven white people, bringing back body parts to their leader.
  • North Carolina. Seven black men kidnapped a white woman, raped her, put her in a tub of bleach, shot her five times, and dumped her body. The murderers said they did this for racial reasons.
  • North Carolina. Four black teenagers lured a white, ten-year-old girl into an empty house. “There, they sodomized her, strangled her with a cable wire, and beat her to death with a board. In the past few weeks, the trials in the Tiffany Long case have received extensive coverage in the North Carolina press. But with two of the three defendants already sentenced to lifelong prison terms, and the third now standing trial, the national media have all but ignored the story. Only the Associated Press has reported on the trials, in a single, cursory piece. The AP, of course, failed to mention the race of the people involved — an oversight it seldom if ever committed in the case of Amadou Diallo.”
  • Boulder, Colorado. After discovering that one of their members had never had intercourse with a white woman, an Asian gang went looking for one. When they found a white University of Colorado student, the six men gang raped her in their minivan for two hours. At their trial, “Detectives described the woman’s night of terror, including repeated threats to kill her.“The woman leaped out of the minivan after one of the men raped her. Naked, she sprinted across Lefthand Canyon Road before Steve Yang tackled her, authorities said.“‘They were all screaming at her, calling her names and hitting her,’ Detective Jane Harmer testified.“Yang put her in a headlock and dragged her back into the van, where she was raped repeatedly, Harmer said.“‘It was a free-for-all,’ Harmer testified.“One man threatened to ‘cut and burn her,’ and another put a gun barrel to the back of her head when they released her, Harmer said.”
  • Kansas City, Missouri. An Ethiopian immigrant shot two white coworkers — killing one and critically injuring the other — at his workplace, then turned the gun on himself. At his residence, police found a three-page, signed note he had written in which he railed at “black blood sucker supreme white people” for oppressing him and black people in general.
  • New York City. In a Midtown office building, a white woman was assaulted, raped, and anally raped by a black man who called her racist names during the attack. Police refused to label it a hate crime.
  • Alexandria, Virginia. A black man walking through a neighborhood went over to a white eight-year-old boy playing in his great-grandparents’ front yard and slit the child’s throat, killing him. A witness says that the attacker shouted racial epithets during the attack, and the main suspect in the case owns anti-white hate literature and had written a note about killing white children. He had been previously arrested for attacking an unarmed white stranger with a hammer. (During the attack, he called his victim “Whitey.”)12 This particular case provides a perfect example of the terrible way that anti-white hate crimes are handled. First, the investigators decided not to tell police officers about the racial aspects of the case, even while the police were conducting a manhunt to find the boy’s killer. When this was revealed by the Washington Post, city council member Joyce Woodson defended this withholding of information from the cops on the front line. “What they did was proper. We already live in a racially charged world.” The Democratic mayor of Alexandria implied his agreement: “Efforts to sensationalize this investigation will only hurt this investigation.”To make things even stranger, the FBI offered to send agents and a fugitive task force to help with the manhunt, but the local police rejected the offer. They also refused the help of the FBI’s profilers, forensics experts, and others.Eventually, the police arrested a suspect who was reportedly tied to the scene by DNA evidence. In another bizarre move, the Justice Department — which had acknowledged that it was monitoring the case — declined to prosecute the killing as a hate crime. The government’s prosecutor in the case cannot charge the victim with a hate crime. “There’s no applicable hate crimes law in Virginia,” he explained. An editorial in the Washington Times pointedly commented on the deafening silence surrounding the brutal child-murder: “Has anyone seen Jesse Jackson around lately? Kweisi Mfume? Al Sharpton? For persons whose political antennae are ordinarily so sensitive that they can pick up racial tremors a thousand miles away, they seem to have overlooked a possible hate crime right here in the vicinity of the nation’s capital.”Even though all of the above incidents occurred in the last ten years, anti-white hate crimes are not new. The Village Voice writes of “the wave of random street killings that terrorized San Francisco in 1973. The ‘Zebra killers’ struck without warning, murdering whites at night. Most victims were shot. One was raped, another beheaded. Four young black Muslims were arrested in 1974 and charged with 14 murders, seven assaults, one rape, and an attempted kidnapping. The Zebra killers were convicted in 1976.”

(During the attack, he called his victim “Whitey.”)This particular case provides a perfect example of the terrible way that anti-white hate crimes are handled.

So NOTHING about the GOP being the party of racists and forwarding racist Emails then huh? lol

I doubt any black was lynched simply for talking to a white woman.

You are irreversibly retarded. No one doubted there are racist blacks who kill whites due to their racism.

You were given an example of where racist whites killed blacks because you doubted that ever occurred over mere words.

Too bad you don't possess the character required to simply admit you were wrong and move on.

LOL

A member of the "liberal elite" that controls the GOP is jewish casino mogul and zionist Sheldon Adelson. He supports mass immigration and increased support for Israel, among other things . Another "liberal elite" who has been known to fund pro-immigration/pro-amnesty republicans is Mark Zuckerberg. Just two off the top of my head. I can list more.

Yes, The regular white people support the GOP, but the GOP never represents their interests, supporting immigration policies that undermine their base, and always trying to "diversify" as though, white interests are illegitmate.

White Americans have no political representation and dire need of it or they will become a minority in their own country.
Hilarious. The first time I heard the name Sheldon Abelson, I had to go look up who he was. I had no idea he was one of my "leaders".
Your "leader", what are you babbling on about? I am not American and I know who this GOP mega donor is. God you are so fucking stupid.
Look at what he wrote fool:

A member of the "liberal elite" that controls the GOP is jewish casino mogul and zionist Sheldon Adelson.

See? Liberal Elite that controls the GOP. God you're a tard.
I know what I wrote you idiot. Shel Adelson is a liberal and a GOP mega donor, his primary domestic policy point is to open immigration further by increasing legal immigration and allowing amnesty. I don't understand what is so hard to understand.

But then again, you are the idiot who didn't even know the major big money guy behind the GOP. Are you representative of the Democrat Party in general? Just dumb oblivious ****** lovers?
You said: I know what I wrote you idiot. Shel Adelson is a liberal and a GOP mega donor, his primary domestic policy point is to open immigration further by increasing legal immigration and allowing amnesty. I don't understand what is so hard to understand.

I suppose I should apologize for calling you a tard. No, you're a tard.

Liberals are not allowed in the Republican Party.

And the reason businessmen want immigration is clear. They need educated workers. Why do you think Rick Perry spends Texas taxpayer money to try to lure educated workers from other states? Remember, Texas cut 5 billion in education. The GOP in Texas think spending money educating their own is a waste of money. I can't say I disagree.

5 million reasons to restore 5.3 billion for Texas schools. - Raise Your Hand Texas

I can prove what I'm saying. But a tard doesn't know how. Why? Because they are a tard and are usually living on government assistance. Do you live on government assistance?

Liberals run the republican party because they are the main donors. Shel Adelson says he is an old school liberal democrat, he admits this.

Although I don't agree with every Republican position—I'm liberal on several social issues—there is enough common cause with the party for me to know I've made the right choice. It's the choice that, I believe, my old immigrant Jewish neighbors would have made. They would not have let a few disagreements with Republicans void the importance of siding with the political party that better supports liberal democracies like Israel, the party that better exemplifies the spirit of charity, and the party with economic policies that would certainly be better for those Americans now looking for work. The Democratic Party just isn't what it used to be.

Sheldon G. Adelson: I Didn't Leave the Democrats. They Left Me

I already debunked you corporate propaganda and lies about the "educated worker" deficit. There are 11 million Americans with STEM degrees who don't even work in STEM. So this idea there aren't enough tech workers is absurd. Now you are conflating, like the dumb left winger you are, because you can't separate concepts in your mind, the issue of amnesty with "educated worker immigration". Two entirely separate issues. Unless you are saying mexican illegal immigrants are more educated. Which is absurd.

I also notice, you don't have any proof Shel Adelson isn't a liberal, you just call me an idiot. I am not even an American, and it is interesting you attack people on government assistance. So much for liberal compassion. You attack people on social safety net and want to bring in cheap third world labor to take their jobs as well? You capitalist scumbag.

Also, under no circumstances is mass immigration conservative. Just because business people support it doesn't make it conservative. What a dumb suggestion on your part. Business people can't certainly be part of liberal interests, and often are. Just look at you, you whore for corporate interests online and are a liberal I guess you are one of those fools that thinks corporations=conservative or something. our cognitive dissonance is quite amazing.

But this is a fundamental misunderstanding of conservatism. Conservatism is conservation of society. Eroding the borders and identity of a nation, undermining the social safety net and undermining the wages and taking jobs from native born labor for interests of capital is not conservative.

how many were killed for that?

then compare that the number of white women raped or killed every year by black males

That's immaterial. The point is that the murderous racism of the past is contained by society today, and trying to claim one group or another is "just like" some group from the past is apples and oranges.

immaterial my ass

rampant black crime rules the day and is hardly "contained"

seems like its just fine in your mind that white women are raped and murdered

you are sick

I care about people of all skin colors. Black women are raped and murdered just like white women are, and white men rape and murder just like black men do. Now, if you insist on focusing only on one combination, I question your ability to see the big picture and have to assume that you are only capable of outrage if the perpetrator of the crime is black.

you started on the race angle and I countered

You are irreversibly retarded. No one doubted there are racist blacks who kill whites due to their racism.

You were given an example of where racist whites killed blacks because you doubted that ever occurred over mere words.

Too bad you don't possess the character required to simply admit you were wrong and move on.
  1. The original claim implied that such incidents were common. So far there has only been one example posted. Whereas, I posted multiple examples of black atrocities committed against whites.
  2. The second implication of the claim was that it was something unique to whites. That obviously isn't the case.
Why should anyone be concerned about a unique occurrence of white on black crime?

Have today's southern conservatives changed from since the days they were slaveholders?

Show us where today's conservatives lynch blacks, force blacks to sit in the back of the bus etc. Put up or shut up for once.

Isn't it interesting that even on USMB, when they have nothing to rant about, our friends pull out the race card. True to form!

Looking at or talking to a white woman wasn't a crime either, but that didn't save the lives of the black men killed for doing so. That's the whole point.

I doubt any black was lynched simply for talking to a white woman.

You are completely delusional. Neither of those were implied. All that was said is that it occurred -- to which, you wrongly doubted. You were shown you were wrong so stop trying to make this about black racists killing white, which was not what this was about and admit you were wrong. It happened even though you doubted it.

First of all I wasn't aware that Supreme Court nominees going before Senate hearings was a crime.

Explain that to us.

Looking at or talking to a white woman wasn't a crime either, but that didn't save the lives of the black men killed for doing so. That's the whole point.

Wrong, asshole. It's exactly what was implied:

Allow me to quote:

Looking at or talking to a white woman wasn't a crime either, but that didn't save the lives of the black men killed for doing so. That's the whole point.
