Arizona execution goes terribly wrong

You are equally culpable

The ONLY reason we are one of the few countries to maintain the death penalty is because of American Conservatives

so how come the liberals here in California defeated prop 34 which would have ended it in this State?.....

Liberals did end the death penalty in California. For awhile. That's why none of the Manson family got the dp. After that, a horrified state reinstated the dp.

that has nothing to do with prop 34 being defeated just a few years ago....lots of Liberals voted it down....which is my point as to what RW was saying...

Guillotine works too. It's so quick it's painless. If it is gory it is only gory for observers. The executed don't even know.

how do you know?....how long does the head stay alive?....the brain has suffered no trauma....

Medical science. The moment the spine is severed, all pain ceases. The brain itself cannot feel pain.

A Paraplegic is conscious, but they feel no pain past the spinal injury. The decapitated head might move eyes or even try to talk, but they will have no sensation below where the spine was severed.

This could lead to the abolition of executions.

Arizona Execution of Joseph Wood Took Nearly Two Hours - NBC News

An Arizona execution took nearly two hours on Wednesday, and witnesses said he gasped and snorted for well over an hour.

The execution of double-murderer Joseph Wood — which Arizona carried out with a lethal-injection it had never before tried — is certain to fan the debate over how U.S. states carry out the death penalty.

"I've never witnessed an execution that took that long," defense lawyer Dale Baich told NBC News. "The state of Arizona today conducted a failed experiment....It was horrible to watch."

If his victims were my loved ones, I would exact such torture that he would beg for this injection.

and there would be a gurney reserved for you, as well...

So that makes us better than him, how?

That makes us better.

We didn't murder anybody.

Do you think subhumans that brutally murdered their victims should have the same right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness like the rest of us.
What if their idea of happiness is to kill anyone who bumps into them?

No, they shouldn't have the right to liberty or the pursuit of happiness. That's why we have prisons.

But when you take away life, that's kind of permanent, and not forgiving if you make a mistake. Which we almost have 143 times since the death penalty was brought back.

Part of the reason there is so much violence in this world is because the perps, according to the left, must have a good reason for murdering. They are the victims, not their prey. They aren't accountable for their own acts. Justice according to the left is dependent on your race or your class.

No, it's not that they have a good reason.

It's that our society kind of breeds it.

Economic inequality, access to guns, treating drug addiction as a criminal problem rather than a medical one, and the big capper, a Prison-Industrial Complex that feeds on the need for prisoners.

So while the US has 2 million prisoners, Japan or Germany have less than 80K.

While the US had 16,000 homicides a year (of whom we execute a whopping 30), these countries have less than 600 a year.

Now, for justice being dependent on race and class- a simple question.

When was the last time a rich white person was executed for a murder?

thanks.

dont forget that spine goes up into the brain....so whose to say that for a few seconds that head is experiencing pain?......i mean we can never know because how would you study this?....the experts on decapitating are the Muslim terrorist but they do a shitty job of decapitating....:dunno:

No one on the left ever mourns for the victims. Why is that?

No one is mourning for this guy. If he slipped in the shower or got shanked by a fellow inmate, no one would shed a tear.

We just question the wisdom of an expensive, selective form of punishment that is probably unconstituitonal and definitely stupid.

The saddest part about this is that you are right that we shouldn't kill people, yet you still use pathetic arguments to make your point. At least I can now say with certainty that you are an idiot because only an idiot that never read the Constitution would argue that the death penalty is unconstitutional.

The problem with private prisons in a nutshell, thank you.

So that makes us better than him, how?

It's called "justice". It's when you deal sufficient punishment that is fitting to the crime. After being abusive to his girl friend, Debbie Dietz, until she finally was tired of being abused, and left.

At which point, Joseph R. Wood walked into a auto shop where she and her father worked, shot her father, with the fathers brother right with him. The 70 year old brother, attempted to stop Woods, in a vain attempt to save the girl. Woods knocked him aside, and aimed at a shop employee who fled. Woods then went straight to where Debbie was working, held her in a choke hold (or similar), and while holding her, shot her in the stomach, and then in the chest.

So what makes us better than him? What could possibly make us better than him.

If you really don't know.... then go and do the same as him, and we'll do the same to you. When you are gasping for air for 2 hours, you can use that time to figure out why we're better than him.

Dumbest questions on this forum sometimes. Just absolute stupidity on display.

Terrible. How more insulting to justice, than to force the victims to pay for the room and board, and health care, of someone who murdered their daughter and husband.

That's constitutional in your book? You are sick.

So your attitude, like most backward-ass, bible thumping morons, is that it's okay for the state to torture you if you were a bad person or did bad things.

Got it.

Obviously, you have "Revenge" confused with "Justice", and frankly, a lot the bloodlust I've seen on this thread tells me that we probably aren't much better than the late, unlamented Mr. Woods.

No cruel or unusual punishment.

The death penalty is definitely cruel in that we can't seem to find a way to kill these guys that is palatable, and it is unusual in that it is selectively imposed in rare cases.

The constitution clearly says no cruel or unusual punishment.

But more to the point, it takes a lot more money to execute someone than it does to lock them up for the rest of their lives. Maybe the victim's family won't mind paying the extra, but I certainly do.

Obviously, you are more worried about the criminal, than the victims, like all leftards. You are a very sick, and sorry little person.

Further, I could not possibly care less what you think of me. Whatever floats your tiny little boat, go for it.

Maybe *YOU* are not much better than Mr Wood. The rest of us, most certainly are. Again, you don't think so, then try doing what he did, and we will prove we're better than you, by doing the same to you.
