Schools became prominent during the industrial revolution...why ?

Because mommy and daddy moved to the city and they needed babysitting. Any Sociology book that is worth a shit will openly say that.

In 1787, less than 35% of children attended a school of any kind.

The Northwest Ordnances, which predate the Constitution, set aside land specifically for public schools. Why do you not know this?
