There is the tricky part. In the debates and on most of the interviews the candidates are "prepped" by other people as to how to respond. So what "they say" is rarely honestly what they personally think. Catching a candidate and pinning them down to respond unprepared about any topic is rare indeed if not totally impossible. Unless you happen to actually know the candidate by really having spent time with them before they started running for office you are really only "knowing" what you are being fed from a group of writers and speech preparers edited by a couple of handlers. So then you must decide if you like a candidate by how they deliver the lines prepared for them and how well someone else grooms them.

That's exactly what he did. He slashed tax rates for the wealthy to pre depression levels and borrowed three trillion(1980's) dollars from foreign banks. In other words he funneled three thousand billion dollars of borrowed money into the hands of the richest of the rich.

In 1986, the Democrats recaptured the Senate (while retaining the House) and thereafter remained in control of both chamber until losing both in 1994.

I knew Reagan. He was a second rate movie star and Democrat for most of his life. When his B movies began to make some serious bucks he decided to get into politics and cut tax rates for the rich. That's exactly what he did. He slashed tax rates for the wealthy to pre depression levels and borrowed three trillion(1980's) dollars from foreign banks. In other words he funneled three thousand billion dollars of borrowed money into the hands of the richest of the rich.

There should be a special monument built for Reagan with an inscription stating, "AssHole Of The Twentieth Century!"
