Barack Obama bombs in Berlin

So, some wingnut opines that Obama's speech was a failure, and that proves what exactly?
.

That it's a r e a l l y s l o w news day.
Yeah, but it makes for a 'fun' brawl or two on a message-board on that slow day...

As usual, lots of wishful thinking from the rw's.

And, as usual, Obama owned it.

Suck it up and get it through your heads - Obama was lawfully elected and is pretty much universally loved by all except the fools refuse to suck it up and get it through their heads.

:cuckoo:

"...Obama was lawfully elected and is pretty much universally loved..."
You obviously (1) don't do Facebook and (2) don't live in my neighborhood, or thousands of others across the country.

Universally loved?

When even Chris Matthews is embarrassed for Obama, you know Obama didn't "own" it.

As if Mr. Blame Everyone Else ever owns anything. lol

obama continues his slide.

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports?

44% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Obama's job performance. That’s his lowest overall approval rating since last August - 10 months ago (see trends). Fifty-five percent (55%) now disapprove.

Today’s figures include 23% who Strongly Approve of the way Obama is performing as president and 41% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18

Distrust of the white house is the only thing growing.

Distrust Growing: 70% Believe IRS Decision to Target Conservatives Was Made in DC - Rasmussen Reports?

82% of voters nationwide are now following the IRS targeting story, including 44% who are following the story “Very Closely.” The overall number of voters who are following is up from 74% a month ago

So much for the liberal claim that no one cares.

Oh, puh-leeeeze.

The Obama Propaganda Wing of the MSM has made Obama's speeches "The News" for years. The reason he was elected in 2008 was because he "talked good".

You can't have it both ways. If those speeches were important when numerically successful, the fact that he can't draw a crowd now is telling.

He's just about at the opening for a Puppet Show phase of relevancy on the global stage.

Obama is loved? for what? He never governs, goes on vacation a lot, and still hasn't fixed anything! so what's there to love?

Huh- a "dictator" who "never governs".
What a world.

Dictators don't govern. They make an annoucement and go about what they wanted to do. Go on vacation, play golf, have a party. When the King says "off with his head" he doesn't personally wield the headsman's axe, he goes away confident that his dictates are going to be followed.

Someone's not heavily invested in Reading Comprehension...
The post is about why such an event would end up as a topic here.

When O'bama (or any POTUS, or any noted figure) makes a speech, the story isn't "how many people showed up". Think about it.

It's becoming more and more clear...he is just in love with his own rhetoric...no one else is~

When John F. Kennedy delivered his “Ich Bin Ein Berliner” speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate on June 26, 1963, 450,000 people flocked to hear him. Fifty years later a far more subdued invitation-only crowd of 4,500 showed up to hear Barack Obama speak at the same location in Berlin. As The National Journal noted, “he didn’t come away with much, winning just a smattering of applause from a crowd that was one-hundredth the size of JFK’s,” and far smaller than the 200,000 boisterous Germans who had listened to his 2008 address as a presidential candidate. JFK had a clear message when he came to Berlin a half century ago – the free world must stand up to Communist tyranny. 24 years later, President Reagan stood in the same spot famously calling on the Soviets to “tear down this wall.” Reagan’s speech was a seminal moment that ushered in the downfall of an evil empire, and gave hope to tens of millions of people behind the Iron Curtain. It was a display of strength and conviction by the leader of the free world, sending an unequivocal message of solidarity with those who were fighting for freedom in the face of a monstrous totalitarian ideology.

In stark contrast to that of his presidential predecessors, Barack Obama’s message on Wednesday was pure mush, another clichéd “citizens of the world” polemic with little substance. This was a speech big on platitudes and hopeless idealism, while containing much that was counter-productive for the world’s superpower. Ultimately it was little more than a laundry list of Obama’s favourite liberal pet causes, including cutting nuclear weapons, warning about climate change, putting an end to all wars, shutting Guantanamo, ending global poverty, and backing the European Project. It was a combination of staggering naiveté, the appeasement of America’s enemies and strategic adversaries, and the championing of more big government solutions.
