"Ben Carson's Bible-Based Tax System and Other GOP Adventures In 'Biblical Economics'

Setting aside Carson's crazy notions about the supernatural,

he is proposing a tax hike on the poorer, and a tax cut for the richer.

Once Americans understand that, he is unelectable...

...which is not to suggest that's he not already pretty much unelectable.

Poverty and obesity

Many health disparities in the United States are linked to inequalities in education and income. This review focuses on the relation between obesity and diet quality, dietary energy density, and energy costs. Evidence is provided to support the following points. First, the highest rates of obesity occur among population groups with the highest poverty rates

Not just a tax cut on the rich ... a huge tax cut for the rich.

Such would require massive spending cuts that would turn America into a third world country with masses of people out dying of hunger and curable disease on the streets.

That's what the good doctor would create ... masses of people dying of curable diseases. Just like in biblical glory days.

Good grief.

Ben Carson's Bible-Based Tax System and Other GOP Adventures In 'Biblical Economics' -

".... “I think God is a pretty fair guy,” he said.

And he said, you know, if you give me a tithe, it doesn’t matter how much you make. If you’ve had a bumper crop, you don’t owe me triple tithes. And if you’ve had no crops at all, you don’t owe me no tithes. So there must be something inherently fair about that.

And that’s why I’ve advocated a proportional tax system. You make $10 billion, you pay a billion. You make $10, you pay one. And everybody gets treated the same way. And you get rid of the deductions, you get rid of all the loopholes, and…"""

It's a logical statement whether you believe in God or not heathen.
No it isn't because everybody is not treated the same way.

To the poor, that 10% is vital for their health and wellness. For the rich, that 10% is part of the money that isn't even noticed on its way out the door. I know ... jobs ... investment ... well a big chunk of those jobs and investments go overseas!
We have the fastest poor people in the world.
Because they have to eat high starch and sugar based food which is the cheapest you uneducated moron
Nope after generations dependent on government, they get to lazy to cook. Dumbass. You can cook a good meal cheap.

You made the claim about poor people being fat, A lot of people don;t have supermarkets near them were they can get a selection of vegetables and health food, they shop locally at small places where the only thing can get is high starch selections such as pasta and processed foods, but then again you are just a dumb uneducated cracker who knows no better

"Food deserts are defined as urban neighborhoods and rural towns without ready access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food. Instead of supermarkets and grocery stores, these communities may have no food access or are served only by fast food restaurants and convenience stores that offer few healthy, affordable food options. The lack of access contributes to a poor diet and can lead to higher levels of obesity and other diet-related diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease."

Carson would take 10% of your first dollar made. Based on this, the person who made a grand total of 10,000 in a year would pay $1000 of it in tax.

So now it's also our fault they don't live near a supermarket?

Wow, what did we do before the progressives came out? Oh we were a super power, now not so much.

Good grief.

I think a flat income tax of 10% is perfectly reasonable. It's plenty of money to run the government if we'd stop trying to rule the world.

I wouldn't vote for Carson.. because of things like this. Being religious is fine. But don't bring it into politics.
What you fail to see is that SECULARISM then replaces GOD. Otherwise, bakers, hotel owners, and photographers wouldn't be forced to accept standards that are not Christian but Secular AND face "Governmentally" imposed consequences.... SO, one is either stuck with regard for GOD or in fear of the SUPREME LAW of the land as so imposed by LAWYERS AND POLITICIANS!

I find GOD so much more understanding.
God should come down here and clear it up then
He did, and you can find out all about it in the New Testament.
You mean when he raped that helpless women to give birth?

UNDER PROGRESSIVE RULE the very richest got richer, the poorest in America got poorer, both AT A FASTER PACE UNDER DEMOCRATS THAN WAS HAPPENING under Republicans.

you tried and failed left-wing nutjobs. you can try to ridicule others about "bible-based" this or that; but the record of PROGRESSIVE FAILURE stands, it is what it is..................

That's simply not true. From 1946 to 1980 tax policy brought about "the great contraction" in which wealth disparity was the lowest in the country's history. It may not be good thing, but it happened.

I seriously wonder how much revenue a flat tax of 10%, with no deductions (I think you have to leave churches as deductions) would bring in, and how the different quintiles would fare? You'd have to exempt low earners too. I couldn't give a rat's ass what Ben thinks Jesus would do.

and nobody gives a rats as what you think ben should believe, OR what you think Jesus would do.

see how that works?

and why do you want to exempt low income earners? we both know the nanny-state socialist democracies in europe dont finance the goodies by exempting low income eaners; they TAX THEM WITH VALUE-ADDED TAXES

Have Ben Carson prove that the idea of a 10% tax does in fact come from a supernatural being.
