Biden warns conservatives in speech to gun control fans ‘they need F-15s, they don’t need a rifle’

While the Jan 6 capitol riot was not an insurrection, it morphed into something more than just a peaceful protest.

So?

The fucking idiots who call themselves our "representatives" didn't represent us that day.

They DESERVED a lot more than they got.

It was more than just trespassing. There was a lot of unnecessary and inexcusable vandalism that day. No one should condone that.

Politicians are only HELPFUL when they have the Sword of Damocles hanging over them 24/7.

That said, there was no attempt to overthrow government.

No, there was only a feeble and unsuccessful attempt to make it do its job.

In fact, we did at one time have a totalitarian and tyrannical government that didn’t allow people to vote, locked up those who protested the government, attacked citizens involved in peaceful protest.

That government was brought down not by armed citizens but by a free press that documented the abuses, courts which enforced the Constitution and elected legislatures that enacted new laws.

That is why we honor Martin Luther King.

How exactly did the British change their tactics?

From Bunker Hill in 1775 to Battle of Guilford Court in 1781 to Yorktown after that British tactics remained unchanged.

When subject to guerrilla attacks you make your soldiers go through contested areas in larger groups and protect your supply lines more

I said they had to change their tactics not invent new ones

But back to my original point.
Militias and guerrilla tactics did not win that war

Not by all of the people that have been arrested, some were arrested that didn't even go into the building. If they did vandalism then they should be prosecuted, if you were just ushered into the building and did nothing but walk around, there should be no charges. And let's look at other cases where vandalism happened in DC to government buildings, what were the charges and sentences, 1/6 people should be no different.

Small scale engagements inconsequential to the ultimate victory

If you want to see militias in action, look at the Battle of Cowpens
Militias were ordered to hold their ground for three volleys and then run away

Privately held guns did not win the Revolution and have never been needed since

So you'd abolish the 2nd amendment and outlaw guns since you trust your government so much?

Those “small scale” battles won the Southern theater.

Battle at Cowpens was a brilliant tactical use of his men by Washington. Without those militias the battle would have been lost.

The American government did not run munitions factories. The Continental Army relied on captured, bought by foreign governments, and personnel weapons.

Much like what will occur during Civil War II.
