What each of these share in common is they were very militaristic / having huge military.

On the inverse, plenty of W. European nations today have "Big Government" but don't have genocidal mobs looting, and shooting the World, like Sweden, Germany, and others whom are "Social Democracy" for "Big government on healthcare, education etc. but not on big military.

So sorry to say, Republicans got it wrong, it's THEIR OWN ideals of "Big military" rather than "Giving people healthcare"

The U.S.A might not be "Looting, and shooting" the World, exactly,. Unlike Nazis, the British Empire, and Soviets who did just that in the past as they went berserk with "Big Military" looting, and shooting all in sight.

Nuclear weapons and small, low intensity conflict, irregular warfare, specialized military advisor and direct action units won't cut it when mass division on division warfare is called for. When is it called for? A large, well provisioned, state of the art military a million strong or stronger is the alternative tool to nuclear warfare. Without it many, many more hundreds of thousands--even millions of lives could be lost without the option for deployment of large scale corps and division sized conventional military forces.

Your heart is in the right place, so to speak, but your mind hasn't quite caught up with the geopolitical realities of our Age.

I'll give you an example. Many years ago, while on active duty, I was rotated a few times a year to Fort Irwin, CA national training center for division on division simulated combat exercises. One of my jobs was to embed with a Long Range Surveillance Detachment, and while scouting out the "enemy" make believe Soviet forces, disarm a "hole" in their miles of fake, training mines; a lane wide enough for our mechanized forces to pass through, as well as relay minefield and obstacle coordinates. Now imagine for a moment if a NATO ally was faced with an advancing Russian armor division or three, and there were no battalions of combat engineers to lay minefields and build obstacles to slow and divert them. Not a very likely scenario, but illustrates the point.

Without the massive military, we'd be left naked and with few choices--all of them very ugly--for engaging a large enemy force.

It's definitely big military which is the big culprit of genocide.

That's why Mussolini didn't, nor couldn't kill like Hitler did, although very similar policies Mussolini had a sub-par military, unlike Hitler.

Same could be said why Fidel Castro didn't, nor couldn't kill like Stalin did, although very similar policies, Castro in comparison had a sub-par military, unlike Stalin.

This list can keep going on, and on.

It's not Capitalism which saves us from genocide, the British Empire, and modern U.S.A atrocities by Capitalist countries prove this pretty dang well.

It's simple, you simply need big government to enforce Social Conservative / Nationalistic values in order to combat those who hire Illegals, to combat those who outsource jobs, to combat those who control Hollywood Liberal shoot em' up, and raunchy films, to combat those who control media Liberal propaganda, to combat those who sell Porn, to combat those who sell Rap music, to combat those who sell apparel to Gay marriages, combat those Hospitals who sell Abortion, and so forth.

Doing nothing, as Republican Liberals insist, actually helps to foster Liberal values.
