His legal team's last hail mary attempt to postpone this accountability until after Trump loses the election has just been torpedoed.

There isn't much leeway for excessive delays to be granted. Judge Canon knows she is on a pretty short leash as far as the appearance of deferential treatment for team Trump.
If it begins to appear that she is just doing Trump's bidding the prosecution will just appeal to The 11th Circuit Court to have her replaced and based upon the previous precedent she set earlier in the investigation it would most likely be granted.

UPDATE: Jonathan Turley suggests this may not be the final date of the trial: “The trial date for Trump has been set for May 20, 2024, roughly six months before the election. However, that is not counting any delays due to appeals taken on threshold issues that could delay the trial. Pre-trial motions have to be fully argued before the trial court before an appeal is sought. That means that many challenges occurred relatively late in the process. Six months does not leave much “crush space” for appellate delays. It remains unclear if the trial will occur before the election.”
