All Pence did, was call the name of the state, and announce the electoral votes cast to whom, then asks the Senate and congress critters of that state if there is an objection to the electoral votes that he announced as the count, and there are measures for the State critters to object, if they are met....but the Vice President has no say in that....

The VP, is there in a ceremonial capacity only, he doesn't have a vote or objection rights, for any of the state electors.

The contestants have about a three to four week span to object and call for hand recounts, or audits in any county they want, as long as their campaign funds pay for it.

Once the certified votes are cast in a state, about 5 weeks after the election, the electoral college meets the following week, and votes.

These are all dates and procedure dictated by our Constitution.

On Jan 6th, also chosen by our constitution, is 3 days after the Newly elected congress are sworn in...On Jan 3rd.

Then a joint session of congress is convened, and the electoral votes are ceremonially counted aloud and entered in to the congressional record.

Those dates too are dictated by our Constitution.
