In last night's town hall meeting among MSD students and several FL elected officials, Cameron Kasky posed a question to Marco Rubio that goes directly to the heart of what keeps elected officials aligned with the gun lobby:
Simple "yes/no" answerable question.
Do you think Rubio answered directly and honestly with "yes" or "no?" He did not; he didn't even come close to doing so. Squirming like a worm in hot ashes, Rubio uttered one squirrelly remark after another.
Why was Rubio so squirrelly? There are at least 3.2 million reasons.
To put that $3.2M in perspective with regard to Sen. Rubio:

To put that $3.2M in perspective with regard to Sen. Rubio:
- From 2013 to 2018, his campaign spent ~$19M, yet in 2016 alone he benefited from $3.2M of the NRA's "largesse."
- In 2014, Sen. Rubio raised (i.e., contributions directly to his campaign) ~$3.2M. Then in 2016, the NRA spent on Rubio's behalf, as much as he'd raised from individuals and groups who actually supported him and could donate directly to him.
- The NRA's direct cash contribution to Rubio's campaign was about at the maximum they could legally contribute that way, ~$10K.
