Christopher Columbus' So-Called American 'Discovery' Leaves Little To Celebrate

Columbus's detractors all focus on the fact that he didn't physically set foot on mainland America.

While failing to acknowledge that he "discovered" North America. ....

Even the Spaniards ended up turning their backs on him, which says a lot, considering what the conquistadors did, and for which they were rewarded.

He’s credited with discovering America, which isn’t true. But what he did do was commit genocide against entire native populations. Here’s why we really shouldn’t be celebrating Christopher Columbus.

Another sad day for Native Americans.
They actually have a video of Chris? Or is this like one of those claims they use to prove global warming.

There never was any 'genocide' against the Indian population.

It's one of those America-hater's bumper-stickers that imbeciles believe.

Raise your paw.
There was no genocide against Natives?
What exactly would you call it?

If Italian Americans want to celebrate Columbus day then so be it. Let American Indians protest it if they want, then lets go on from there. It doesn't need to be either or. Its a national holiday, so its time to coexist like it says on your bumpersticker. This is the lesson people finally need to learn, you don't have to tear things down just because you feel righteous about it.

What exactly was so "great" about him?

Had he NOT discovered that there was another whole land to the West, do you think no one else would have found North America? Oh, that's right, the Vikings had already discovered North America.

All credible history proves that Columbus was a genocidal butcher. That fact cannot be denied.

When Colombus "discovered" America there were over 10 million natives... by 1900 there were around 300,000. As a historian, I call that genocide. What do you call it?

Genocide-
the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation.

Yes. They were victims of genocide.
