Christopher Columbus' So-Called American 'Discovery' Leaves Little To Celebrate

Oooo you're disgusting.

Natives lived much more civilly than we do in my opinion.
You were there right? You don't have any idea how they lived, except what you have been brainwashed to accept.
They had a much deeper respect for human life and our planet than we have. That can be proven by many aspects of their culture.
Right. That's why they burned people alive and tied them down in the desert and stuck arrows in womens armpits, etc etc etc etc etc.
And their white counterparts never did anything of the sort

Correct. You are getting with it now.
I hope you're kidding... but you probably aren't. Have a good one mikey, ignorance is bliss.

The only thing I don't get about American Indians is why some people scream the name of one when they jump out of an airplane?

He’s credited with discovering America, which isn’t true. But what he did do was commit genocide against entire native populations. Here’s why we really shouldn’t be celebrating Christopher Columbus.

Native American Genocide

Another sad day for Native Americans.

There never was any 'genocide' against the Indian population.

It's one of those America-hater's bumper-stickers that imbeciles believe.

Raise your paw.
There was no genocide against Natives?
What exactly would you call it?

The worst case of mass suicide ever recorded.
They did not kill themselves they were murdered. Genocide.

You thought I was serious?

Genocide doesn't require the entire group be killed. Just a large portion. The native Americans were certainly victims of genocide.

Genocide- the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation.
Maybe like todays feral black population they should have learned how to behave and act civilized.

True, tribes like the Comanche and Apaches were some of the worst and would go after peaceful settlers, and they also killed a lot of Mexicans. But this is a pretty big country and not all Indians were the same just as the land itself was not the same. I've posted before about the California Indian genocide so im not going to bother doing it now.. but they were a relatively peaceful people because they basically lived in a place with an over abundance of food and other resources. They were unfortunant enough to get caught up between the gold rush, Spanish priests, and the politics of westward expansion. It sure was'nt fair what happened to them, so I have no problem giving them loans for their casinos.

Kind of like how the GOP does?

The bitching about Columbus is a left-wing authoritarian effort to reverse European colonialism in a further effort to rid the world of capitalism.

We are on to your bullshit. Fuck off, commies. We're not giving up capitalism or our guns.

What a loon. Wait for it, you'll be blaming it all on Trump any moment!

No.. They were into that sort of thing long before Trump came around.

They did.

Why do authoritarians (left and right) dig up ancient history to disparage the other side on current events? What's the goal?

Authoritarians? I don't know where that comes from. Some of us just enjoy spotlighting the hypocrisy. Parades, a day off to honor a man who did not discover America, but enslaved and murdered pretty much everyone who lived on the discovered caribbean islands, in his search of gold. It is all made even more ridiculous since it has come to light that the Scandinavians beat him too it, and actually colonized North America. I think that honoring the muppet Swedish Chef would be closer to appropriate. Granted, the Italians do not have many heroes, but we could always march in honor of Marconi, inventor of the wireless, on the day that the Titanic sunk.

Yes many "illegals" are peaceful settlers. The GOP argues that it doesn't matter if they're peaceful, they are illegal so they must leave.
Same idea. No?

They can stay if they can overthrow our government.

Is that what you commies are trying to do? (do I even need to ask)

What hypocrisy?

Not even worthy of a serious response.

Speaking of which, I am thinking that the voters in Idaho should consider putting up a statue honoring Sen. Larry Craig in the men's room in the Minneapolis Airport.
