Civil War?

The NRA lost its way decades ago when it stopped being about firearm safety and training and got involved in rightwing politics.

protecting second amendment is the NRA’s mission now mostly because you libtards removed them from all the places they taught firearm safety. You democrats turned the NRA into a political machine.

No. The NRA only pays lip service to safety since they became the marketing wing for the gun industry. The political machine was the result of super aggressive lobbying for gun manufacturers.

Yeah, especially if he were pushing to eliminate any laws against drunk driving. Which is basically what the NRA is doing.
What a horrible false analogy. The NRA is not striving to eliminate gun laws. Stupid ideological stances force you to make stupid inappropriate comparisons.

Balance in the Universe.

The ACLU lost its way decades ago when it stopped being about free speech and got involved in leftwing politics.

She has used a LOT of crack this morning.

Seems that Wayne Lapierre and Oliver North are fighting over the bones of an NRA that has seen its contributions lag in the face of opposition that increased because of recent mass shootings.

Are you sure they're not? Why are they against universal background checks and banning assault weapons, which are completely unnecessary to self defense or even good hunting?

Meh, you gotta check it out. LaPierre killed all the safety programs, and made the NRA an offshoot of the RNC. The gun company’s don’t need the NRA. They could strangle the NRA in a second.

Who says the NRA is facing a crisis which you imply by alluding to the "bones" of the organization and lagging contributions?
WSJ, originators of the story. "Bones" is me, editorial license.

From a political and political donations standpoint the NRA is small potatoes. They are way outclassed by Unions like SEIU, and Soros funded groups of which there are many.

However, their gun safety programs are the best.

The focus of NRA has nothing to do with safety programs. Hasn't for a long time.

Reasonable people can disagree over what constitutes an "assault weapon". At any rate they are hardly for doing away with all regulations regarding guns.

Can you name a single regulation the NRA is in favor of?

Wayne LaPierre has always been an America hating asshole.

He trashed law enforcement to boost his membership & the dumbass gun nuts buy it every time.

What definition would the NRA back a ban?

They lobbied their asses off to prevent the renewal of the assault weapon ban.

The 2nd Amendment.

I somewhat agree about the safety programs where they can be had, but LaPierre’s unwillingness to try and keep stuff like Eddie Eagle in schools is only one example of his bad leadership. NRA may not be big in political money, but ol Wane sure has gotten rich during his time at the top of the NRA. He has survived many a coup. Cockroaches are amazing that way.
