CNN - Mr. Trump and President Biden 2024 Debates -- No More "Will you shut up, man?"

Trump is also trying to duck out of debates another way.

He's said he's set up another later debate with FOX, and demanding Biden attend it.

Then, when Biden doesn't reply, he'll declare Biden is chickening out, and therefore that gives him the right to chicken out of the actual debates.

And when it happens, all the Trump cultists here will be singing about how bravely brave sir Donald bravely ran away.
When has Trump ever run away from the limelight? He flourishes in it. He'll have as many debates as Biden can stay awake for.

Even though his own mic is muted, Trump will shout loud enough to be picked up on the President’s mic. He might even lean toward President Biden to be sure that he can be heard on the President’s mic. Or he will just ramble when his mic is off in an attempt to distract the President.

There needs to be a rule in advance to deal with that likelihood, such as a rule that continued talking while off mic means time detracted from answering the next question. Or, one warning. The second time it happens, the interrupting person gets removed from the debate and the remaining one continues to answer questions.

The only real way to prevent Trump from interrupting and shouting at or over President Biden is to have the candidates inside separate booths. I don't think that just cutting the mic will work to silence Trump when it's not his turn.
Let him. He gets even nuttier when his voice is hoarse and he's shouting. :auiqs.jpg:

2020 redux? Or not. We already have people saying the debates have been rigged -- in Biden's favor. These are of course Trump supporters who fear Trump performing poorly, or Biden coming across as anything but what has been claimed about him, by the many of the same people claiming Trump signed on to 2 rigged debates.

The debate rules, agreed to by both sides, will have “Microphones will be muted throughout the debate except for the candidate designated to speak.” In my opinion this may actually help Mr. Trump.

Less than two weeks away:

Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden plainly do not like each other. The former president calls the current president the worst in American history. The current president calls his predecessor a wannabe dictator who threatens democracy itself. Four years ago, in their first encounter, Mr. Trump trampled over his rival’s talking time — the former president has since admitted privately that he was too aggressive — with Mr. Biden scolding him, “Will you shut up, man?

There will be no opening statements. President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump will each have two minutes to answer questions — followed by one-minute rebuttals and responses to the rebuttals. Red lights visible to the candidates will flash when they have five seconds left, and turn solid red when time has expired. And each man’s microphone will be muted when it is not his turn to speak.

The candidates will get a breather during two commercial breaks, according to debate rules provided by CNN to the campaigns and reviewed by The New York Times, but they will be barred from huddling with advisers while off the air.

Outside the media bubble the cult exists in:
crazy man Trump

The expectations game is a particular challenge for the Trump campaign. Mr. Trump, 78, has spent months casting the 81-year-old Mr. Biden as a husk of a man who can barely walk or formulate complete sentences. Republicans have pumped out a stream of videos of Mr. Biden walking stiffly — some deceptively edited — that are meant to be proof of Mr. Biden’s decline.

Mr. Trump’s supporters in Racine showed they have been marinating in this content. “Biden can’t stand up!” one woman yelled during Mr. Trump’s speech. She stood near another woman who wore a T-shirt with a picture of Mr. Biden that read, “Impeach me. I won’t remember.”

But Mr. Trump was also preparing for his caricature of Mr. Biden to be punctured next week. He openly wrestled with the obvious question: What if Mr. Biden clears the very low bar that Mr. Trump has now set for him?

Jake Tapper and Dana Bush will be debating Trump while Potato sez "Yeah what he said...Yeah what she said".
really?

snippet:

While it’s clear Mr. Biden has physically slowed and his gait stiffened in recent years, his doctor in February called him “fit for duty.” Mr. Trump has not disclosed a detail summary of his health. Neither man has released a comprehensive assessment of his mental fitness.

Lately, Mr. Trump has been experiencing his own adventures in aging for all to see. Last week, he bragged about passing a cognitive test when he was president but mixed up the name of the doctor who’d administered it. He has confused Nancy Pelosi with Nikki Haley, and Mr. Biden with Barack Obama.

What are the debates’ terms, and who will moderate them?

With the CNN debate fast approaching, those terms have been set. Here’s what we know:

  • It will take place without an audience, meeting one of the demands from Mr. Biden’s team, which wanted to avoid an in-person audience that could cheer, boo and derail the conversation.
  • The debate will start at 9 p.m. Eastern time and go on for 90 minutes with two commercial breaks.
  • The candidates’ microphones will be muted when it is not their turn to speak, meeting another requirement from the Biden campaign.
  • Only Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden will be on the stage. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the independent candidate who has been polling in the teens, failed to qualify.
  • The candidates will stand at podiums. Mr. Biden will be on the right and Mr. Trump will be on the left of viewers’ screens. Their positions were determined by a coin flip, which Mr. Biden won.
  • Mr. Trump will get the final word during closing statements, also a result of the coin flip.
  • Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will be the moderators.
Fewer details are known about the ABC News debate, but it was announced that David Muir and Linsey Davis will be the moderators.

Well, in all seriousness, this debate will be hard to moderate for the duo from CNN. If they don’t bring up the blob’s serious legal troubles, they look like they are trying to be go too easy on him. If they bring it up (as they should), they will be abuse of carrying the water for Biden.

This is the case on so many issues with the blob.
