The knowledge of Columbus ' s abuse of the Indians in the virgin Islands has been in knowledge for years. I saw a 1930 something short, believe it or not. Columbus was described as the first immigrant kicked out of the Americas and was chained on the ship until he went back to Spain. So he and his crew were punished for their physical harm against the natives. The shifty cowardly liberal professor explaining students about his crime probably did not mention about how he was punished for it . Because, the professor in desperation for a quick answer to stop bigotry right now felt that remembering the explorer was contributing to current bigotry and wanted l to erase it. Probably also too cowardly to focus against current bigotry cause it means risking prison ,death and injury to physically control it.Feeling that it safer to go after some one who's been dead for long time. This actually fuels current prejudice.

I'm not sure your point. Who cares if he faced some punishment for his atrocities? You realize you can hold contempt for more than one than person right?

As if any of you people are a better person than columbus.

Had any you people been in columbus's shoes, the outcome would be the same

As if native primitive culture had a future

Columbus is not remembered for being a wonderful individual. He is remembered for discovering the New World.

P.S. Don't start yapping about the Vikings. Their voyages to Newfoundland had no impact on world history.

I think anyone who comes across another group of people and doesn't immediately starting calculating how to exploit and rape them is a better person than Columbus but I get that you and I have different standards.

Columbus is fantasized by white people to have discovered the New World. It's just all a big coincidence how all the places he "discovered" were already inhabited by other human civilizations. It's kind of like telling us all about the restaurant you discovered on Yelp. Who knew besides being a deplorable rapist Columbus was also the origin of hipster culture.

Columbus did not hurt a soul, but you go ahead and tell us all you think you know. Start with something factual with a quote from anything but your imagination

An obscure Japanese band caused a backlash for their promo video based on a wrong interpretation of world history. Coca-Cola pulled the video that was as part of Coke Studio. Pepsi Twist is much better and currently my favorite drink.

He was a monster. He killed as many Natives as he possibly could.
What you need to do is read about what Columbus did. Some of these things are raping and killing children. Cutting off the hands of natives. Hanging natives upside down then slicing open their bellies, burning slaves alive.

Columbus was no better or worse than the Taino he encountered ..all ethnicities of history engaged in war and the slave trade

All Americans owe gratitude to Columbus and people like Francis Drake.

The anti Italian racism is disgraceful. It is couched in criticizing Columbus and suggesting “Europeans were pro genocide”

anti Italian racism Has become normalized in the leftist media and Hollywood. I respect Taino people …let’s all respect each other.

The idea that Indian leaders were monsters and raped indian women is also rude and wrong. Same with calling Columbus names

Just the way that some people talk about Columbus is purely anti- Italian racism…. it’s become normalized bc of the “black legend” iow anti Catholic propaganda…and hate from the modern left

And what did he find when he "discovered" the new world? He found people already there.

Kind of like "discovering" Disneyland or something.
