Confirmed. Consumer and US businesses paying nearly all tariff costs.

The tariffs are aimed at curing what "officials from both major parties call Chinese trade abuses." Of course, the ignorant among us just don't understand why we should punish that behavior.

Chuck Schumer urges Trump to 'hang tough on China' after latest tariff threat while other top Democrats are quiet
The New York senator, who has largely cheered the president’s efforts to crack down on what officials from both major parties call Chinese trade abuses, backed Trump again on Sunday. In a tweet, he urged the president to “hang tough on China.”

“Strength is the only way to win with China,” said Schumer, who is otherwise at odds with Trump on a wide variety of policy issues.

First quoting Schumer impresses me none. I'm not a Democrat and I'd like to see him gone.

Second, like I already noted, if it's the right thing to do it's the right thing to do without lying about it.

Trump has always said that the US had terrible trade deals and that he was going to fix that. His only tool with trade is restricting or taxing imports and he is using that very effectively.

These tarffis taxes have minimal impact on the booming American economy, while putting pressure on other countries to stop fucking the US. They are only bitched about by TDS afflicted shitheads that hate Trump because he is not furthering the agenda to make this country a socialist shithole.

Go take your TDS meds and shut the fuck up about Trump lying because he has never lied about his agenda to correct the imbalance of trade problem.

If it's the right thing to do you do not have to lie to do it.

Also.....those are not the only options. You can remove the tax incentives businesses use to move overseas.

You can greatly increase the taxes on the profits made by American companies in China.

The US has no tax incentives for businesses to move overseas. That's a liberal made-up urban legend. The US allows moving expenses to be deducted. But it doesn't matter if you're moving from Chicago to LA, or from Pittsburg to Brazil.

Apparently your opinion piece is wrong. It was written nearly 3 years go, and our economy is still moving strong.

China has a huge built in market.
You mean lots of people with precious little spendable income. Trust me on this … China needs access to American markets far more than we need access to theirs.
We salivate over China's lack of regulations and low labor costs. That's the bottom line.
No we don't and WTF has that to do with your claim of China's market?

Again, trust me on this … China needs access to American markets far more than we need access to theirs

Paul Krugman: Trump will bring global recession
The economic fallout of a Donald Trump presidency will probably be severe and widespread enough to plunge the world into recession, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman warned in a New York Times opinion piece published early Wednesday.

Calling Trump the "mother of all adverse effects," the Nobel Prize-winning economist predicted that the GOP nominee's administration could quickly undo the progress that the markets around the world have made in the eight years since the financial crisis.

"Under any circumstances, putting an irresponsible, ignorant man who takes his advice from all the wrong people in charge of the nation with the world's most important economy would be very bad news," he wrote.

Krugman is a partisan hack.

So what? Think Germany is going to allow China to walk all over them like they walk over us? Do you think China is the only place that produces cheap products?

Germany will see to it that their manufacturing stays home.

And their purchases as well. Not every country is like the US where the cheapest price is paramount. Germany has more solidarity with their people. They buy their own products even if they could get it cheaper somewhere else. Europeans generally place quality over price as well. In the US, the American consumer doesn't value quality anymore. Give us the cheapest crap we can buy, and that's who we will buy it off of.

China will never replace the US consumer. We are the heart and soul of their economy, and China knows it.

And it's China's fault we aren't more like Germany?

China has a huge built in market.

That wasn't my point. My point is that Germany will never replace the US when it comes to trading partners. Germany has 83 million people. We have 325 million people. Many people in Germany won't buy cheap Chinese products. We will.

Germany was but one example.

It's the example you posted, so I responded to your claim.

Because of the socialist policies of the Federal reserve.

It doesn't happen overnight. China is far better than us planning long term because they care about more than the next statement and how it affects shareholder value.

The thing the Chinese don't want to admit is there are at least a half dozen other countries in Asia that can produce the same goods that the Chinese do for the same or even better prices. Countries that are willing to enter into fair trade deals with the US. South Korea has already done this.

An Obama/Clinton "Economist" . LOL!

Did the idiot advise Obama on the economic polices that increased poverty, decreased family income, massively increased debt, runied health care, increased taxes, had massive trade deficits, increased income disparity and caused dismal economic growth?

Yea, that is the dumbass you need to ask about Tarffis. :10:

BULLSHIT. The tariffs have greatly hurt the Chinese economy, that is why they want to work out a new, better trade deal, idiot! Why does your article not point that out?

That isn't the argument. We also gain nothing by hurting the Chinese economy.

The point is Trump said the Chinese would pay the tariffs. They are not. You don't need to explain things to me. Things are happening just as I and many others noted it would, you need to explain this to Trump.

Of course we gain by hurting the Chinese. We get them to renegotiate a fairer trade deal.

Do you have a video of Trump saying that the full cost of the tariffs would be paid by the Chinese? Share it.

South Korea is not going to provide the low wages and lack of regulations business is after.

Trump lied.

Don’t let them tell you, the fact is — China devalues their currency, they pour money into their system. Because of that, you’re not paying for those tariffs. China’s paying for those tariffs,” the president said, hours after announcing the new set of tariffs on Chinese goods. “Until such time as there is a deal, we will be taxing the hell out of China.”

We are taxing the hell out of the poor.

Does anybody bother to click the link and investigate where (WHO) these claims are coming from ? It,s an organization called "Tariffs Hurt the Heartland"

Ha ha ha. Can you believe it ? "Tariffs Hurt the Heartland". Looks like even trying look a modicum of objective, has gone by the wayside.

PS- no matter how common this con job has become, companies cannot simply "pass on" costs to consumers. Doing that results in sales reductions of unacceptable degree.

However the reason they can make products cheaper is by cheating the system which is what Trump is trying to square away. The government of China subsidies their products as well as manipulate their currency. Americans will always buy the cheapest product, but by allowing China and other places to make the cheapest product by cheating, then it's really no good for American job creation and our economy.

Here I thought they were making products cheaper because they paid their people 1 dollar an hour.

Do you complain about the subsides we give our Ag industry to make them more competitive with the rest of the world?

Food is a bit different. When you have an inferior Chinese product that cannot compete on the market because it sucks and its only redeeming feature is its cheap price; central government subsidy of that product is in effect a poisoning of the world economy.

Really? How do you tax the hell out of the poor? If you are poor, you cannot buy what you do not afford! I hope your "proof" wasn't in the video that expected me to sit through a half-minute commercial to watch it. I don't solicit sites that go past 15 seconds, tops. If no one watches that crap, advertisers will stop buying space on their sites.

And I guess you don't understand how tariffs work: there is no question China is being hurt. They are being hurt far more than we are. They have no choice but to fold sooner or later. The only way the tariffs cannot work and cost us money is if we continue to buy their goods.

When Chinese goods become more expensive, it opens up the market for other products! Or hopefully, for these things to be made locally. Since Chinese goods are artificially devalued to crush competition, buying non-chinese goods isn't being taxed, you are simply paying for the real cost of what stuff really takes to make it, which I'm glad to pay to both hurt China as well as supporting competition.

No link can dispute fundamental economic law
I don't need link from college economics teachers. They probably were students of mine 40 years ago, who flunked my classes.

Some people need to be told twice. The firm sells at the highest price it can, without triggering uneconomical sales reductions.

Thus, the current price is not flexible or negotiable. If it could be raised to bring more income, it would have been higher already. I just told you what established the firm's price. Where did you think it came from ? Somebody's lucky number ?
