In most close races, or races that should have been close, The Big Lie election deniers lost. Some got blown out.

This should have been a GOP blowout. Rs should have swung 30+ seats in the House and have a 4-5 seat majority in the Senate. But the radicalized MAGA base keeps throwing up candidates that are unacceptable to most Americans.

Until the GOP breaks the fever swamp of crazy, and leaves behind their cult of personality, this is going to keep happening.

We still are taking control of the House.

Dems lost control of Congress, which means Republicans can put a stop to Biden’s craziness.

At the same time, with the average off year House pickup at 37 going into this, the GQP knows how badly it under-performed, despite it's predictions of a wave. The party knows, and some are wiling to admit it.

The two facts can exist simultaneously.

While I’m disappointed that it was not a bigger margin, I am relieved that we at least take over the House - and possibly the Senate - and can stop the anti-Americans from further eroding the middle class.

Perhaps we can fight back now against Biden’s insistence that we no longer drill for oil (and thus drive energy prices higher) and block the unnecessary spending bills that are driving inflation higher.

And as far as the party underperforming, I fear that 2% or 3% of the voters DID believe the lies that a vote for Republicans is a vote against Democracy, and that if we win we will bring back Nazi Germany and arrest all the children. All it took is for one voter out of every 50 to fall for that lie, and that’s the difference in the election outcome.

Oil production is increasing steadily and there's an abundance of natural gas. That's why prices are coming down.
