Dems Pay Park Service Employees To Baracade WWII Memorial

The National Mall is closed

The ENTIRE Mall

Believe it or not, museums and monuments are considered to be non-essential government services

President Clinton did not close the National Mall when the Government was shut down in 1995.

Why is it now? Because of National Security.
It has just been announced on the news, that the Senate has just been notified that our National Security is at risk during this shut down and Harry Reid refuses to talk to the House to get things resolved.

These things are already paid for. They don't need to be closed off because nobody needs to watch everyone and keep them from destroying it......unlike Occupy WallStreet assholes.

I don't suppose you've ever held a position of responsibility but damage to the memorial is only one factor in closing a public building/memorial. Liability for injury, providing a clean and safe environment are others. You see Federal Employees do more than police, they in fact serve the public.

I've held more positions of responsibility than you'll ever realize as a member of the military, a senior 'A' Team member (Real World life & death responsibilities), and a business owner.

So blow me.

Why default to the vulgar? Doing so is both a sign of ignorance and déclassé. Hence, I doubt you were an officer, and owning a lemon-aid stand qualifies one as a business owner. But I digress - you fail to acknowledge leaving your lemon-aid stand unsupervised would expose you to liability for someone's injury. As a responsible purveyor of lemon-aid, isn't keeping the environment safe the correct thing to do?

National Security has become the catch-all for whatever they want to do.

National Security depends on the government watching two grandmas exchange cookie recipes.

Our nation has changed a lot since 1995

Anyone who has walked around the mall in recent years can see that. Bike patrols, bomb sniffing dogs, increased surveilance. Just a couple of months ago, the Lincoln Memorial was defaced by green paint.

The Mall is either open or it is closed. Until such time as Congress ends its petty bickering...it is closed

When did it become the "catch-all for whatever they wanted to do"? Not under Obama, not even under Bush II, Clinton or even Reagan. The first time was during the Nixon Administration wherein that bastion of liberty and law and order - until he was convicted of felonies - Spiro Agnew sired the New Right and its attacks on the MSM and Hollywood.

Isn't it nice to learn your political 'genealogy'?

I can assure you that WWII veterans, all of them being over 80 years old, have no interest in defacing anything on the mall.

Then Agnew was tried an convicted of tax fraud in Maryland which is why Ford became vice-president.

Let's see, Boehner cares more about his job than the job done by WWII vets to protect our democracy; the radical Republicans have shut down the government hoping to deprive millions (yes, no hyperbole here, over 7 million in NY State tried to sign up yesterday alone. So many the system was overwhelmed) of obtaining health insurance which many had been denied do to pre existing conditions.

And the echo chamber (see above) makes hay over yellow tape in place because Boehner is incompetent and allows a small radical and callous coalition hold the nation hostage.

Wake up echo chamber, ya'll appear more ridiculous than ever by posting on this thread.

Tonight, House Democrats shut down two bills that would have funded benefits for Veterans and re-opened the WWII memorial in Washington DC.

from the Hill:

The House on Tuesday night rejected three appropriations resolutions that would have funded the District of Columbia, veterans programs and national parks, after House Republicans set them up in a way that required Democratic support for passage.

GOP leadership decided earlier in the day to advance smaller spending resolutions as a way to ease the impact of the government shutdown that started today. But Democrats held out against this tactic, and most voted against the three bills in order to keep up pressure for a comprehensive spending package.

All the Democrats are interested in is to screw everybody until they get their way.

Is the WWII memorial open or not?

If it is open, then security must be provided. It is tough to disappoint 80 year old veterans, but there are a lot more urgent government services being closed than some monuments

Their way is to open THE WHOLE GOVERNMENT

Boehner is trying to set himself up as dictator,

refusing to let the clean funding bill be voted on, because he knows it will pass,

but choosing instead to item by item dictate which parts of the government will open and which will not.

Is the DC police force shut down? Those monuments are granite structures on open ground, what security is needed besides the local police force?

What exactly do you think those 90 year old vets are going to do to the monuments?

Wrong! Their way is to hold their breathe until they turn blue if they don't get to spend another $1.3 trillion on a program that most Americans do not want.
