See above. There are rules to this type of thing that I don’t think are being represented accurately. If the leave is free (as in non-chargeable against his banked hours) then it is wrong but honestly I don’t think that is going to be the case.

Further, it was a condition of his employment with this government agency (as it usually is with matter of defense and other offices with that kind of power) that he NOT be involved in things like this site let alone head them. He agreed to that and even lied to cover it up.

They are doing it right. He has been identified and they are going through the process. The military is not much different by the way. You still cannot do whatever you want even out of uniform. There are standards that you are expected to adhere to when it comes to political rallies and other cases like that. The government exercises considerable control over your off duty time.

These are not unreasonable requests though give the fact that we are public servants. I am a hardliner for rights but there are certain concessions that are given when a person decides that they are going to serve the public and defend the rights of all. That is even true with civilian members in sumular roles as DHS is.

No, it is easy to do. I don’t think that the relative posts were in this your version of the thread before the merger but it has been pointed out that these type of things are covered in the contractual agreements for governmental positions in areas like these. What was done is a clear violation and can be used to can him without any further requirements of proof. All they need to establish is that he is part of this website and I think that he has already been established to be the one running it.

Employment does not really have the same burdens of proof that a court of law has either.

Well again, a supervisor has stated that everyone is afraid of him, so that needs to be investigated.
Why are they afraid of him ? Is it because of what he does off the job, or are there also behavioral things he's doing on the job ?
If he's created a hostile workplace atmosphere, that has to be investigated, the employer has an obligation to maintain a safe work environment.
