Dobbs was the worst thing that could happen to Republicans.

Before Dobbs, the Republicans could placate the Religious Right and Social Conservatives by speaking out against Abortion. This was essentially harmless. With Roe as the law of the land, there was no hope of actually doing anything. And best of all, the Republicans couldn’t be blamed for doing nothing. The Supreme Court had ruled and the poor politicians were powerless to do anything about it.

So some fool in the audience screams that “Abortion is Murder” and the politician could agree and lament about how awful it was and it’s a shame the Supremes gave us this awful ruling.

Then Dobbs came and the Republicans got what they said they wanted. Only, it’s not going the way they wanted.

Abortions have remained the same, and indications are that there has been an increase since Dobbs.

So the stated goal to stop abortions, has failed. They are about the same and even possibly increasing. So the “have to save lives” mentality is taking it right on the nose.

For decades polling indicated that most people supported a woman’s right to choose. The Anti Abortion people swore that these were push polls. They were fiction. These polls were lies. A vast majority wanted to save the unborn babies.

Even when Abortion was an issue in an election, the Republican would win. But nobody stopped to consider it might be because the voters didn’t think the politician could do anything about the issue.

Now of course we are in a post Dobbs world. The problem is that the Republicans don’t know what to do. It turns out the polls were right. The majority of voters actually are pro choice. In the meantime the Republicans have become defined by fierce opposition to Abortion.

It is worse for Trump. He proudly announced he had done this. He had packed the court with anti abortion Judges who overturned Roe.

The Republicans are now demanding that the important issues, the ones that matter are the economy, and immigration, and the deficit. The voters appear to think Abortion is pretty important.
Foolish boy....the goal was to stop paying tax payer money for human parts factories. That has been accomplished. Did it set up a political weeping wall? Yep.... That's the price of doing business.

Language is as dangerous as women deciding for themselves what they want to do with their lives!
They made the choice pre pregnancy as did the man who is responsible economically for the child should the woman decides to keep it and rightfully so, however gets no equal protection under the law

The key is that men are living consequence free lives with no responsibility for the babies they create.

Yes, women face the consequences. Losing jobs, medical expenses, child care, children they can’t afford
While that is wrong of course why wouldn't they they get no equal protection under the law

I said at the time of the decision that they fucked-up and the 15-week compromise was the way to go.....I knew what was in store because the holy-roller beholden politicians would not be able to help themselves.

Frankly, women who desire to live consequence-free lives probably shouldn’t be passing-on their DNA or that of the boys they are fucking. Let them abort themselves out of the gene pool.

Actually, it's more often the conservative woman who is seeking an abortion because she refuses to use other contraception.

The liberal gal is making her boy wear a rubber, and she's taking a pill.

When I was in the service, one of my fellow NCOs had a girlfriend. Asian-American, very Catholic, who decided that because her boyfriend wasn't making good on his promise to marry her after she gave it up, decided to stop using contraception. When the cad refused to marry her, she got an abortion because she didn't want her parents to know she wasn't still a virgin at 22.

Voters don't trust the GOP to do the right thing on abortion in their states.

In many cases, the ability to legally murder a baby has been extended.

The left are fucked in the head. What do left wing cult fucks living in Portland care what people in Oklahoma do?

Oh, I don't know, maybe we have compassion for the poor girl in Oklahoma who is pregnant and has to cross two state lines to find a place to take care of the problem.

The best thing is that this didn't just happen to the GOP. They made it happen. Dug their own grave.
Fuck the religious yahoos

Hey, there are lots of reasons women of all stripes get an abortion and that is why the utility should be preserved.

Most folks are fine with the practice as all the ballot results thus far have shown. The differ only on the guardrails.

Oh, I don't know, maybe we have compassion for the poor girl in Oklahoma who is pregnant and has to cross two state lines to find a place to take care of the problem.

Or the soldier who is stationed in a red state that bans abortion and is not allowed time off or travel expenses to a state where it can be performed

it was a false right created by a false SC case, that didn't solve the issue.

Letting it go to the States and letting the people of those States figure it out should solve the issue.

Actually, the problem was letting the states sort it out was the problem. Have you met State Representatives?

Quick history lesson. As absurd as it seems today, contraception was illegal in most states prior to 1965. Everyone realized that this was absurd, but the state legislatures didn't so diddly about it. Until SCOTUS struck down all these laws in the Griswald v. Connecticut decision. No one is seriously saying we should overturn Griswald today.

Roe's primary flaw was not just that it found the "Autonomy of the body" argument of Griswald hiding in the 14th Amendment. (Which, if you took to its logical conclusion, would also strike down all the prostitution and drug abuse laws.) But that it failed to define when life began. It tinked with standards of "Viability" that were immediately nullified by the Companion Doe. v. Bolton decision that said an abortion can be performed at any time for a risk to the mother's health (not life). While, in theory, this allows third-trimester abortions for depression, the reality is no one is actually doing that. If you are having an abortion in the third trimester, something has gone horribly wrong.

The main reason why SCOTUS felt striking down the abortion laws was okay was because they were being routinely ignored. Women would go into their OB/GYN, get an abortion, and the doctor would write something else down on the charts. The insurance companies would happily pay for it because it's cheaper than a live birth and 18 years of pediatric medicine.

But then the religious crazies needed a rallying cry to get asses back into pews. Instead of just accepting it as a done deal like most SCOTUS cases, we've had 50 years of Republicans paying lip service to fetuses while quietly appointing judges who respect precedent. Until Trump appointed three religious fanatics to the court, that is.

Except your party ran on banning the practice altogether.

The only guard rail should be what the woman and her doctor decide upon. Everyone else should mind their own fucking business.

DNA in the sperm came from the man's mother and father.
Ergo, your argument fails.

A fetus is not a unique organism. Absent the female it cannot exist.

AND

your desire to use the government to force your religious views on others is immoral and unconstitutional.
AND
Definitely not conservative.

No, it doesn't because that given sperm was never in said mother or father. again, a sperm isn't a unique organism.

It is dependent on the mother, but it is still it's own unique organism with it's own DNA.

There are plenty of secular arguments for restricting abortion.

America has the highest rate of Miscarriages and stillbirths and infant deaths of all the industrialized world.

But I’ll tell you this. The reason I reject the Right’s arguments is they are hypocritical. Ten seconds after the baby comes down the birth canal, the Republicans lose interest. All of a sudden they don’t want to pay anything for caring for the child. The Mother they demanded have the baby won’t get any help if Republicans have their way.

Welfare, Food Stamps, school lunches. Hell school at all. The Same Republicans who demand the baby be born are outraged that their demands will cost money.

And how does our migrant population play into that number?

They don't lose interest, they just don't believe government is supposed to support people from cradle to grave. That's the work of charities, not government.

What about all those Pregnancy Crisis centers the left wants to shut down because they don't do abortions?

We just don't think sucking government dick is the end all be all of human experience.

Contraception doesn't deal with a unique human life, abortion does. That's why Griswold led to a resolution of the conflict, and Roe didn't.

Roe's mistake was getting involved in the issue at all. Now we are going to have go through the conflict that should have been kept on conflicting back in the 70's and up till now. Roe wasn't a WWII ending, it was a WWI ending.

The gift of a free society, something I know you despise.

Try the equal protection clause which denies a man's right to keep the child if he wants to
WTF are you talking about?

A fetus is not a child and forcing a woman into slavery to satisfy a man?

You guys wonder why you lose.

I looked up your source here (The Lozier Institute).
Turns out to be a biased, activist organization with an agenda.
Not very credible.
Fake news!
So you are just cherry picking information that confirms your preconceived bias; not actually seeking information with which to educate yourself.
That's probably how you remain so dumb on the issue.

Ridiculous and specious.
Until viability the FETUS is not a separate organism.
Unless you wish to properly classify the fetus as a parasite.

The only valid arguments for restricting abortion prior to viability are safety and efficacy.

Anything else is just men exercising their desire to own and control women.

And you wonder why you lose elections.

Stillbirth, miscarriage and infant mortality were far more a part of live even 80 years ago than now.

If a one year old dies while with their mother there is an investigation done to see why. Should this happen for every miscarriage?
