Zone1 Does anyone still believe that women athletes are unfairly paid less than men?

Aside from the OP, that may be the dumbest stance ever.
The women carry their weight, the men never have...and "dumbest stance ever"? what's with the misogyny?
Soccer is a much more intricate, difficult, and beautiful sport than American football, basketball, or baseball although baseball is a close second in terms of difficulty.
like ballet, perhaps macramé as well...

...they have been trying to force soccer on advertisers since the seventies where even Pele couldn't save the game. The meaningless and useless selling point was "the most popular game in the world", it was just one more reason to feel good about being American...and now the women are getting jobbed while the men are getting paid...good for us eh?

Just because you don't win doesn't mean you shouldn't try.

Yet somehow NBC Universal paid multiple millions for a TV contract to broadcast the game in the United States. Too good for us? NO. Too good for you? Possibly.

it does if the money could be better spent...trying should not be at the expense of the women, the men need to be gone

If that's the measuring stick then the money they pay the other sports proves that they are better than soccer...
...and millions to NBC Universal which has hundreds of billions [if not trillions of dollars] to spread around make the soccer contract hardly worth mentioning [or even noticing]...the sport is unwatchable, the men stink at it and the women are paying the price for it...
...the women deserve all of it.

Soccer was not made for advertisers, there are not enough built in breaks for them to run their ads. This is why baseball and football were the chosen sports for TV. They were almost made with advertisers in mind.

So the only way to pay women more then is to give them the men's money...really the men stink and are way over paid, they need to go

As was noted somewhere above, professional sports pay should be based on what the market will bear.

But national teams there should not be a discrepancy between men and women, especially not when the women are far more competitive

If everyone is so concerned about pay equity, why pray tell, is a center get paid less than a QB, or a catcher paid less than a pitcher, or any position on any team paid more than any other position. Is it not a team with all contributing? The issue is disingenuous. Those paid the most are happy and those making less want equity. It is the same in any occupation. But, yes, professional athletes are overpaid and absolutely not necessary to any economy.

The answer is simple. When the women start pulling in the number of paying customers that their male counterparts do, then they can command pay commensurate with the male athletes. Female professional sports are worse than college sports. IMHO, I don't think the men in sports are worth what they are paid either. They are a bunch of spoiled primadonnas that couldn't generate poverty wage if they were to get real jobs.
Women’s Olympic soccer does along with tennis.

Do they get paid like men?

What is obvious is that you don't understand the issue.

When in comes to professional leagues, the players are paid whatever the market will support. That isn't the argument that Rapinoe was making. The National teams--the teams that the US Soccer Federation, not MLS or WPS, send to the international competitions are not supposed to be compensating players based on economic factors. You get paid to represent the nation...not on how many seats you fill at a stadium or how marketable you are.

If they are making the argument that the WPS and MLS players should be paid the same, that is incorrect. However the argument most discussed is how the national teams pay male and female athletes differently.

Incidentally, if they were to actually pay based on performance, the women should be banking multiples of what the male teams have made since they routinely compete for the World Cup where as the men's teams have had trouble making it out of the group stages.
The problem is the women were offered the same deal as the men and turned it down. The mens deal was performance based and you only got paid if you played, received more for winning etc. The women didn’t want that deal because they wanted more guaranteed money. So that’s what they got. Exactly what they requested and all agreed to. Then after they won the World Cup someone sat down and did the math and realized they would have made more money had they accepted the original deal. Thats when the cries of discrimination started. It’s why the first judge rightfully told them they were stupid and threw their case out.

That sounds good but the teams do generate money based on their performance. Teams that make the WC get participation money based on how much the WC makes. Since the mens world cup makes 10 times what the womens“s makes the participation pay is likely higher for the men than the prize money for winning in the women‘s version

You're asking the impossible of Trump supporters.... In the first place, they'll never see women as equals. In the 2nd place, if you ask them to spend 10 seconds understanding the details of anything....you get on very thin ice.

Honest question. The media still invites Megan Rapinoe on their shoes to declare how women in sports are being oppressed by not making as much as men even though it's so obvious as to the reason that a caveman could figure it out.

But, are there still stragglers and Democrats who believe this is true? (Besides the MSM/Democrats)

Id give her equal pay here ...
She got beat by a bunch of 15 year old boys
