I have no idea what Trump wants and sometimes I don't think he knows but one thing is for sure. Most of the jobs that left this country aren't coming back. $80,000 a year jobs that can be done for $30,000 abroad will never come back. What is happening is new jobs that pay half that are being created rapidly without the job security and the benefits workers enjoyed 20 or 30 years ago.

The only way Trump can delivery on his promises is to strangle imports into the US which would mean big shortages and big increases in cost of consumer goods and that's not going to happen.

Most of the jobs won't come back from Mexico or China because they never went there in the first place. 5 million factory jobs were lost since 2000 but only 13% went abroad. The remainder were taken by automation and other factors at home.
