Drug giant official: Cohen was 'promising access' after Trump election

But this time, it's Trump, and libs can act like it's something brand new, never been done before, and use it to gin up their base, who we all know are dumb as rocks.

Certainly I can agree to a point, but this behavior still sets a bad example. Our politicians are now openly suggesting to the public that we 'ignore', hence 'accept' their own personal corruption. The 'that's politics' mantra is a tool for the corrupt and an exercise in futility. Wrong is wrong. The public at large will never go for being ripped off.

And who knows, if they keep yelling as loud as they can, they might convince new stupid people that they are onto something.

I just don't understand why you can't be patient with the investigation. Watergate took years.

And what else are they going to do? Talk honestly or seriously about the issues? LOL!!!

Are you?

Not sure what group you are referring to with "you folks".

I am all about serious discussion of the issues. It just is so rare.

So terribly sadly rare.

Indeed.

Limitations on lobbyists was not the main thing he ran on, moron.

You didn't watch the video. How many more do you want me to post that you also won't watch?

Do you realize how absolutely ignorant you are making yourself look by saying you didn't know there were lobbying laws?

I never watch videos posted by douchebags.

I think everyone knows why you are so misinformed and ignorant. Sorry but I'm not wasting anymore time with someone so out of touch that they didn't even know lobbying laws existed. Why you are even posting in this thread without that knowledge is beyond me.

To be more accurate, I didn't know there was a law that required you to register as one. However, it's absurd to have special laws on people who do nothing more than talk to politicians when the right to talk to them is protected by the First Amendment. Is it Constitutional to have laws that say what politicians can do with respect to lobbyists? Absolutely, but placing constraints on the lobbyists is a clear violation.

Do yourself a favor and go read up on lobbyists. They actually came about BECAUSE of the 1st Amendment.

And, for what it's worth, ANYONE can go to their congress person's office and ask for an audience, and generally get one if they are patient.

But they have to wait for the lobbyists to go first. They're the ones with the money.

What the fuck does "They actually came about BECAUSE of the 1st Amendment." mean?

"I just don't understand why you can't be patient with the investigation. Watergate took years."

That has already been explained about 10,000 times. Only a total dumbass would fail to get it by now.

Novartis official: Michael Cohen was 'promising access' after Trump election

Play for pay..simple as that, I guess:

"President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, contacted the drug giant Novartis after the 2016 election "promising access" to the new administration, and Special Counsel Robert Mueller later requested information from the company about the offer, a senior official inside Novartis told NBC News on Wednesday.

"He [Cohen] contacted us after the new administration was in place," the official said. "He was promising access to the new administration."

The disclosure came after an attorney representing the adult-film actress who says she had an affair with Trump released a summary of bank transactions that he says shows payments from various companies to a company controlled by Cohen.

That lawyer, Michael Avenatti, said the transactions suggest that Cohen was "selling access to the President of the United States." Cohen, his attorney and the White House did not respond to a request for comment."

That's what lobbyists do, moron.
He was not a lobbyist..asshole. He was Trump's personal lawyer and he parleyed that into some big bucks.

I swear you get dumber with time.
Your Komrads in here claim he's a lobbyist. Take it up with them.

What kind of job to you have to have to be considered an "official" in a "drug giant"? Can a cash register clerk be considered "official" if they are gainfully employed by a "drug giant"? Nobody knows because the crazy left wing angry media doesn't care. Another anonymous unverified unidentified source that alleges nothing. Gigantic lobbyist organizations exist in Washington D.C. by vague "promises" of access to government officials. That's the way the freaking system works. If that's the best Mueller can come up with it's time to escort him off the property.
Perhaps the head of the company is good enough for you?

Novartis CEO: ‘We Made a Mistake’ in Agreement With Trump Lawyer

Novartis CEO: ‘We Made a Mistake’ in Agreement With Trump Lawyer

"Novartis AG Chief Executive Officer Vas Narasimhan said the Swiss drugmaker “made a mistake” in signing up lawyer Michael Cohen to give the company insight on President Donald Trump’s health-care plans.

“Yesterday was not a good day for Novartis,” Narasimhan wrote to employees Thursday in a letter reviewed by Bloomberg News. A day earlier, the drug company said it had paid $1.2 million to a firm led by Cohen, who is at the center of a U.S. law enforcement probe, as well as a civil lawsuit related to payments to an exotic dancer.

“We made a mistake in entering into this engagement and, as a consequence are being criticized by a world that expects more from us,” Narasimhan said in the letter. “What defines us now is how we respond to this difficult situation.”

Novartis hired Cohen’s company in 2017. The company said it quickly determined that the lawyer’s firm would be unable to provide the services it anticipated and decided not to engage further, but was contractually bound to keep making monthly payments of $100,000.

While Novartis said it got little from Cohen, the arrangement dragged Novartis into Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into suspected Russian meddling in the U.S. presidential election."
Giving a drug company advice doesn't constitute lobbying.

Is Cohen registered as a lobbyist? So far all the companies have come out and said Cohen didn't provide anything he supposedly promised.

Since when do you have to "register" to exercise your First Amendment rights?
Being a lobbyist is not a '1'st amendment right'..dumbass. Once you get paid..it becomes something else altogether.
Wrong.

There are rules for lobbyists, and one of them is that they have to be registered with the government BEFORE they can start actively lobbying. Cohen never registered as one, and is therefore in violation of the law.

You tell me that someone buys into anything a Lawyer says?

The question is - Who is paying Avenatti? Stormy has admitted it ain't her......

Got a link for that? And, if Avenatti is doing it pro bono, it's great publicity for him, as well as will get him a lot more clients. You can't buy this kind of advertising.
Speaking of money, Daniels recently admitted that she’s not paying Michael Avenatti’s attorney fees.

If Skanky Daniels isn’t paying her attorney fees, who is? What wants her to keep talking? Who’s really behind this? This detail seems kind of important, wouldn’t you say?

Not really. What I find interesting is that all over the net..almost at the same time..posts are cropping up asking who paid the lawyer. I guess that's the new talking point?
I don't think that's all that important...since there are a variety of reasons why he'd do it Pro Bono or on a contingency basis. It seems there is a move afoot to spin this into some grand conspiracy.

Gee I wonder if all the people and companies that made huge donations to the Clinton Foundation were looking to get access to her?

Clinton Foundation is a charity... Charity's books are audited...

If the Clinton's were using a Charity for pay to play it would be a horrendous idea, just get a buddy to register as a lobbyist...

The whole Clinton Foundation story is just bullshit... Bill and Hillary Clinton didn't even take a salary...

Just because Trump is corrupt doesn't mean the Clintons are.

You want to change the rules and you hold both sides to the same, new standards? Let's talk.

You just HAPPEN to want to make an issue of it NOW, when it will undermine my side's agenda, and sort of talk about changing the rules, but not really do it?

FUCK NO.

And who knows, if they keep yelling as loud as they can, they might convince new stupid people that they are onto something.

I just don't understand why you can't be patient with the investigation. Watergate took years.
Because the point is NOT the end result of the investigation, but using the accusations of wrongdoing, valid or not, to undermine our side's political capital.

Not to mention the core accusation was bullshit to start with and has obviously degenerated into nothing but perjury traps.

Whenever I can.

Not sure what group you are referring to with "you folks".

I am all about serious discussion of the issues. It just is so rare.

So terribly sadly rare.

Indeed.
And partisan accusations like this, are one of the techniques used to deflect discussion away from the actual issues.

We all know some wealthy Democrat donors are paying him. It's only a matter of time until the truth comes out.

The thing is normal presidents would a through investigation done and to be vindicated.

Look at the Uranium One issue. The Clinton would have no problem with an investigation, it would be investigated and they would be cleared, already news sources have clearly shown this to be bogus...

Did Hillary insult Comey during the Email issue? No.. She knew she was innocent and accepted the result even though she was very hard done. It is not FBI to discuss on going investigations and release a statement when the person was found reason to continue.
Look at Mueller, no statements, no accusations.... The accusations against Trump are all speculation.

I will contrast to Ken Starr who held almost daily press briefings and ended up threatening a young girl(Monica) by sending her and her mother to jail unless she testified on a consensual sexual encounter.

Trump should just let the investigation go along and cut the comments... It just makes him look worse. Mueller is an investigator, thats it, if a police officer stops you tomorrow do you start by insulting him?

Kind of is.... Personal lawyer to the President is selling access, pay for play... This is red handed...

Trump campaigned against this but he took meetings with Novartis.
