Family Court orders Dad not to take child to catholic church

In this particular case, he did not.

For 30 days anyway. Even though I disagree with the judge, 30 days isn't exactly an eternity. If he understands Catholicism at all then he'd know that her soul can still be saved even if she misses church for a month. :)

And if he didn't understand that... then what the hell was he doing making that agreement in the first place or keeping her out of church for the first three years of her life? :)

He's prolly one of those Cafeteria Catholics. He uses religion to reach his goals while only paying lip service to Jesus.

Let's not forget that even though he was wrong to violate the court order, she was way overreacting to seek one in the first place. I mean really, a little water sprinkled on her daughter's forehead, are you kidding me!

Family Feud Over Faith

This is unbelievable until you get to the end and discover the Family Judge just happens to be a Jewish man also.

Freedom of Religion can not be usurped by the Courts, even illegal courts like Family Courts. The mother claims that some how it harms the daughter to take her to a Catholic Church.

Legal experts all agree that even the parent with out custody while having a visit with the child can take said child to their religious services.

This is stupidity and a mother simply acting out to harm the Father.

I hope the Judge gets slapped down as well.

Who's going to slap him down ?
Jews run the legal system.....and banks..........and media........and the medical industry........and the porn industry ....and..............

i'm thinking you don't understand what that means to someone who is jewish.

So educate me.

first let me rephrase. it's not a biggie to all jews. but it is to the type of jew who would make that type of deal.

as for educating you. i've already had my say on the issue in this thread and you don't need me to educate you.

i will say i'd never want my child being told his mother is going to hell because she's a jew.

I missed the part where he told his daughter that her mother is going to hell. In fact, I'm pretty sure you made that up.

And so we agree, it was really no biggie... which means she overreacted by running to the court.

Color me edumicated!

i can tell you that a good number of people will tell you that if you don't believe in jesus, you're going to hell.

heck, i've been told it here. so no, i didn't need to read it in the articles.

and yes, it's a big deal. and yes, i'd have gone to court.

answer your question?

Catholics don't believe that any more. But I agree, being baptized is actually a big deal. Not to this man, apparently, or the priest that performed the ceremony under shady circumstances.

i appreciate that re catholics not being taught that anymore. but doesn't the current pope want to void Vatican II? (for the record, i thought the last pope was a great man).

I think it's a big deal. And it was done under shady circumstances in the case i was talking about yesterday, too.

my brother's first father-in-law asked him if he was worried about him and his children going to hell.

my brother was much more gracious about the comment than i would have been.

My bad, apparently he already has...I was reading up on it and it seems once again unbaptised children are going to hell...so I guess that includes you. But don't worry, I'll be there right along with you as my baptism has worn off long ago.

This joker in the article looks worse and worse, imo.

Catholic Father, Jewish Mother Battle Over Daughter's Faith | Christianpost.com
Check out the bolded parts. The more I see, the more I think the judge was out of order IMO...

When the couple married in 2004 Reyes agreed to convert to Judaism to make his in-laws – who would only accept him if he was Jewish – happy, as reported by ABC News. But he never stopped practicing Catholicism, he said.

In a petition for a temporary restraining order against Joseph taking their child to church, Rebecca claims they always agreed to raise Ela in the Jewish faith and "have done nothing other than to raise her in the Jewish faith." Joseph has denied the claims. He has also said that they did not attend Jewish services regularly – only on High Holy Days.

In December, Judge Edward R. Jordan issued a court order, without hearing testimony, temporarily restraining the father from "exposing Ela Reyes to any other religion other than the Jewish religion" during his visitation.

In an appeal, Joseph's attorney, Joel Brodsky, argued that the order is not a preliminary injunction because there was no evidentiary hearing.
