Fla. doc's sign warns off Obama supporters

Government control of private means of production is Fascism.

Suggesting that a doctor be driven out of business for voicing objection to complete government control of his professional life is Fascist.

If the Foo Shits....
You've got it wrong. Refusing to treat people in the state you are licensed in because of their political beliefs is fascism.

Boycotting them is anyone's right.

I'm still waiting for someone from your side to show me where he refused service to anyone at all.

He told Obama voters to go elsewhere. If they chose not to, I am pretty sure he served them. Now, since it is clearly obvious that the others can't show that, can you show me that he refused to serve anyone at all?

Don't be an idiot. Nobody can or will drive this guy out of business other than his patients - by taking their business elsewhere. The First Amendment wouldn't allow it.

All I can say is, hope his wife appreciates what he's doing for her.

None of them will ever be able to provide that proof because it doesn't exist.

I don't understand how you can read the sign and not comprehend that he is telling Obama supporters to go elsewhere. It's as plain as day.

Use a different group.

If you're a Jew, seek care elsewhere.

If you're black, seek care elsewhere.

If you're white, seek care elsewhere.

What do you mean it doesn't exist? Several of them have claimed that he did. It has to exist! Remember liberals don't make up fact, only conservatives do.

There is no proof he refused to treat anybody. His sign may have encouraged some patients to go elsewhere for treatment - but those who proceeded to make appoinments were treated.

You don't understand the definition of Fascism. It is not an individual exercising free speech and freedom of association.

It's also not customers choosing to take their business and their money elsewhere after being told they're not wanted.

And anyone that ignored the sign and came into his office for treatment was given treatment... unless you can prove otherwise.

It was a political statement for crying out loud. Something that as of right now, we are still allowed to make. Six years from now, I don't guarantee that right, but right now, we are still allowed to make political statements!

To my knowledge no one was turned away.

And as I said very early in this discussion, were he my doctor, I would be seeking a new physician. I don't think one should blame or even infer blame upon people who voted for a different candidate. It is not like we know the future.

This doctor is a jerk, but he has done nothing illegal and if he has not refused treatment to a single patient then he has not done a doggone thing unethical either.

This is from Critter's post, number 3 in the thread. It might clear some stuff up for ya.

Section 9.012:

"Under no circumstances should physicians allow their differences with patients or their families about political matters to interfere with the delivery of high-quality professional care."

That is from the AMA code - only 20% of doctors belong to the AMA. It is not a licensing term for all doctors.

Absolutely. It is the case with anybody in business who takes a public stand on an issue or publicly supports a political candidate. All risk those who disagree taking their business elsewhere in protest or the 'no shirt, no shoes, no service' places, etc.

Again I think the doctor went too far with his sign, and it was offensive, but I am also reasonably certain that he isn't asking the political affiliation of his patients either or turning anybody away who admits he or she voted for Obama.

I wonder if those who are most incensed over this, however, would have been as incensed if the sign had said "Bush" instead of "Obama"?

Only on an Animal Farm would somebody who objects to Government Control of his private practice be called the Fascist.

I stand by what I have said, where has he denied care to any patients?

He made a political statement. That is all. I thought I was told by liberals that they tolerated differences of opinion. Obviously, that is not true.

No where have I seen any indication that he refused medical care to anyone that came to him for care or even asked his patients what their political viewpoints were.

Now, if he handed them a sheet of paper that asked them if they voted for Barack Obama in the last election and made them sign a form that said they did not and that they did not support this bill, then I would have a problem with this. But no where has that been shown to me.

The beauty of the private sector, and private practice is private sector is that is not depending on government for anything. Congress has no right nor authority to take private practice and distribute it for public use, for what we have to thank to fifth amendment.

You're right, government control over private means is fascism.

If someone doesn't want to take my word for it, read this:

We are socialists, we are enemies of today’s capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions." - Hitler, 1927.
