Gay Marriage Fails In Maine

Marriage is the union of a man and a woman. That is how it has always been defined. Sow what next, we're going to say that milk is actually a lug wrench?

THis is too fucking stupid.

Next we are gonna hear that users of cocaine are treated in a discriminatory fashion under our drug laws, which permit the use of nicotine and caffeine.

Gays are not being discriminated at all they have the same right to marry a person of the oppisite sex as I do!!!! Whats the problem!!!!

If they want to change the law and marry someone of the same sex then can I marry two women or my horse. If not why not?

That's too bad.

I'll never understand social conservatives, IMO they are the most anti-Constitutional of all political groups.

Your brain cells are discriminating against synapse, that's the problem!

Where in the constitution does it promote gay marriage. All men are created equal meaning all citizens can marry a person of the oppisite sex!!!!!!

I don't follow your point whatsoever. It means nothing to the underlying viewpoint.

what is it that you dont follow?

everyone has to live under the same law, no one can marry someone of the same gender, there is no elusive minority that are the only ones affected by this law.

What you're not seeming to follow is that not ALL people are sexually attracted to the opposite sex.

sexual attratction is irrelevent, the same law applies to ALL men, to ALL women. there could be many reasons why people would marry, money, benefits etc..the law is universal it singles out no one!

The constitution doesn't promote gay marriage. Nor does it promote marriage, period.

But you are probably one of those that likes Government to discriminate when it suits your purposes.

all people, all men, all women are under the same law, there is no minority.

this has nothing to do wiht some elusive "religious definition" this is the legal definition, this is the law, there is no minority. men cannot marry men, and women cannot marry women, it is the law for all men, for all women.

smh, the minority is gay persons. they're a minority, they represent only a tiny fraction of the population. The law's got nothing to do with their status as a minority, the law does not make them a minority or not.............their actual population in comparison to the whole does.

they're the very definition of minority. that they are not allowed to get a legal contract solidifying their "relationship" as straight couples do, represents a discrimination against a minority.

gays being a small grouping of people is irrelevent, the law applies to all men, all women, not just gays. there is no minority.

Thats correct- the Constitution does not promote marriage. It is a state issue, genius. And marital laws do not discriminate against gays any more than they do against non-married couples.:cuckoo:

people know what they want and what they dont want, and they are not buying that this is about civil rights.

Yeah right. Since when did Americans ever defend the civil rights of a minority over the tyranny of the majority? Ask the Negro slaves, the Japanese Americans, Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans (citizens all), and others who had to fight the majority for the so-called cherished rights.

Your premise is so flawed it is embarrassing.

MAariage is a civil contract between two people. Unless a state says specifically between one man and one woman, we have seperate but equal--which I think is unconstitutional.

get yer facts straight (no pun intended).

ps, are you one of those self loathing gays who have a wide stance and agenda? :eusa_whistle:

marital laws discriminate when they treat two people differently than two others. Text book case.

unmarried couples are denined nothing---until they decide to get married. (you this big a dufus in real life?)(

 Marriage is a lifetime partnership and sexuality SHOULD be irrelevant, but it's not for some reason......It SHOULD be universal and single out no one, but it's not!

If two gay men are allowed to marry, why not two heterosexual men? Why not give the benefits of marriage to everyone, whether they are in a committed relationship or not? Or would you gay rights proponents not allow two straight men to marry each other to take advantage of, say, healthcare benefits...

and they discriminate how?

so, you really would have no issue with allowing two straight guys that dont even live together to marry so they can share health benefits?
