George H.W. Bush, one of the greatest Presidents of the United States!

just a comment but this 'bush' and 'juan mcstain' were very similar in their style and policies . Both gone now and thats not a bad thing 'U2' .

Uh, so can you say something nice about George H.W. Bush or not? Just trying to see if there is a human being with a heart rather than a typical troll or bully.

And look at that , see post 18 as Edward37 starts with the impolite name calling 'U2' .

-------------------------------------------- nothing nice to say about him . He supported his pro immigration weakling son in the Pres. race against The TRUMP . And he voted for 'hilary' plus he was part of the 'reagan-bush' team that did Amnesty in 1986 . And if thats not bad enough he also was pro 'mexican' and pro mexican importation or immigration . He was also a big government guy and supported World Government which is big huge Goverment and he supported the 'u.n.', He was a nasty and unAmerican person 'U2' .

George H.W. Bush is probably the greatest President the United States ever had! He led a life of service to his country starting with his service in World War II. He was a fighter pilot, got shot down by the Japanese. He survived in the ocean for four hours before being picked up by a U.S. Submarine. He later served in the U.S. House Of Representatives, then as ambassador to the United Nations, then served as chief of the Liaison office in China. He was then appointed director the CIA. He served as Vice President under Ronald Reagan during which the United States rebuilt is economic and military strength which were vital to winning the Cold War against the Soviet Union. He then was elected President of this great nation. He did send forces to invade Panama because it was necessary and swiftly defeated the threat there with very minimal loss of life considering the size and scale of the operation. When Iraq invaded and annexed Kuwait, George Bush masterfully put together one of the largest coalitions in world history. He then sent that military coalition which included 500,000 US military personal into Kuwait and Iraq and swiftly defeated the 4th largest military in the world in 4 days after 6 weeks of airstrikes. It was probably the greatest military victory in history given the scale of what was accomplished and the fact that only 113 U.S. troops were killed by hostile fire. A tiny fraction of what many predicted the casualties would be. George Bush's popularity vaulted to 91%, the highest ever achieved by any American President. George Bush raised taxes when it was not popular to do so. His last year in office saw quarterly GDP growth each quarter of 1992 ABOVE 4% in each quarter. That was the last time in U.S. history that the United States had 4 consecutive quarters of real GDP growth above 4%. His economic performance and tax plans laid the groundwork for the Surpluses that were seen at the end of the Clinton administration, the first Budget Surpluses since 1969. You would be hard pressed to find a better American patriot or better American President. George H.W. Bush did it all!

He's also responsible for the drug test in the workplace craze. You forgot to mention that.

Also forgot to mention his Wilsonian meddling in Panama was completely illegal.

As for the money thing --- member how he called Reagan's rhetoric "Voodoo Economics"? And then denied he had ever said it, even though there was video footage of him saying it?

Good times....

Point being --- I know it's bad form to trash the deceased but leave us not go off the rails of reason in the opposite direction, K? Or to paraphrase an old maxim, if you don't have anything true to say, don't say anything at all.

It was great if you weren't a civilian being targeted by the war criminal in chief.

All of the more than 400 women and children were incinerated or boiled to death at 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 13, 1991, when two F-117 stealth fighter-bombers each dropped a 2,000-pound laser-guided “smart bomb” on the civilian shelter at Amiriyah.

That was a mistake, a mistake that would never of happened if Saddam had never invaded an annexed and independent country, the first person to do so since Adolf Hilter. In fact, Saddam may have manufactured the incident by stuffing civilians into a former building used by the Iraqi military. If the United States wanted to kill Iraqi civilians, the United States could have killed millions of civilians on the first day of the air war. But I guess you don't understand that. Anyone defending Saddam and his actions would have defended Hitler as well. I can't even begin to imagine what you would say about the U.S. military's attempts to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany.

No, you don't know its bad to trash someone. It appears to be what you live for considering you relish doing it to someone who just died. Easy to do on the internet when no one can see you. You'd likely never do it if everyone could see who you are.

There really isn't anything special about HW or his presidency. Just another figurehead representing a people who perpetually tolerate the "mistakes" of our leaders.

I liked H W. He reflected Americana more than every president since his presidency. America wasn't divided as it has become ever since Clinton became president with his disrespect for the presidency. The Gingrich led congress.further divided congress and implemented the GOP "us against them" mentality. And further ideological blood battles only stopped briefly for 9/11, then it started again and has escalated ever since. We have had dysfunctional government ever since.
Now we have the divider in Chief, who has no respect for our government, it's institutions and for those who disagree with him.
George H W Bush wasn't perfect, but comparing him to those who have followed him, he looks mighty good and it's not even close.
The country respected him, the world respected him and the world respected the United States. None of this is happening now, it's a polar opposite environment. Sad.
