Georgia Seniors Told They Can't Pray Before Meals

How exactly do you people define the word force?

if some old people in a restaurant hold hands and say grace at the table next to yours are they "forcing" you to do the same?
We are not talking about people in a restaurant. Get a clue. Or stop prevaricating. Whichever ...

It doesn't matter where you are. You are using the word "force" incorrectly.
And you are incorrectly attributing the word "force" to me.

Sometimes it's just good common sense to forgo your right to free speech in order to maintain good relations with the people around you. It's not as if anyone is being prevented from praying privately or in a non disruptive manner.

But the people around the old folks saying grace were not the one's complaining were they?

the fucking moron food service guy who was not there to eat with the old people was the idiot who complained.
Since you were not there, you have no way of knowing that.

Oh, the HORROR!!!! Free speech in a public place! What has become of the USA!!!!!

“The 'morality of compromise' sounds contradictory. Compromise is usually a sign of weakness, or an admission of defeat. Strong men don't compromise, it is said, and principles should never be compromised.”

Did you bother the read the linked article????

Tim Rutherford, Senior Citizens Inc. vice president, said some of his staff recently visited the center and noticed people praying shortly before lunch was served.

I'll admit it wasn't the food service guy but it was not anyone who regularly attends the meals either

Anyone who denies that peer pressure and society's tendency to enforce conformity is not at times a strong and dangerous force is out of touch with reality.

Like I said you were not there. You have no idea what may have gone on in the minds of all the people who go to the senior center to get their federally subsidized meals. You're just assuming that they all, and all future patrons, all agree that this religious ritual is okay with them.

Anyone who denies that peer pressure and society's tendency to enforce conformity is not at times a strong and dangerous force is out of touch with reality.

Not out of touch, but understanding that the strong have the courage and convictions not to bow to such pressure and tendencies.

And the even stronger speak up for those who are timid.

The worst peer pressure today is our President discouraging freedom of speech and access to information.

Your outrage is sorely misplaced.

So the strongest voice heard is the one that dictates?

if it wasn't OK with them then they believed in the concept of tolerance as they did not complain.

It is the so called "tolerant" left that believes it's OK to take away an old person's subsidized meal because they had the audacity to say grace.

Try to keep up with the news.
Nobody is taking away any old person's subsidized meal because a bunch of pushy zealots want to make a public display of how pious they are. The government backed down because the squeaky wheel always gets the grease.

A bunch of cranky old Christians won the fight. Bully for them!!

The loss federal funding was used as the excuse to stop the old folks from saying grace before they ate nothing else.

So many people immigrated here legally for religious freedom. This is an insult to them and their descendants.

How is it an insult to our founding fathers to have a moment of silence to pray silently or relax in the present moment rather than forcing everyone to say a prayer out loud in a public place? Silence allows all who wish to pray an opportunity to do so silently and respects the differences in our community that the founding fathers sought to protect.

Oh, the HORROR!!!! Free speech in a public place! What has become of the USA!!!!!

Free speech includes the wise use of silence.
