GOP ideas: “old and out of shape”

He didn't do a damn thing to my culture.

When did that happen? What is your evidence that Trump ever said "we can't fix it?"

Stop watching "The View" for all of your information on current events.

That's insane to even say, much less if you actually believe it, which i doubt.
1. You said the presidents affect culture. I said they didn’t. Now you agree. Good.
2. Are you kidding? 2017 Trump came close to an agreement with Democrats then over night reversed his negotiation position folding to pressure.
3. Dems have put up multiple reasonable offers with the GOP only to have the GOP ALWAYS back out. The GOP can’t do a deal because they don’t want one.

Is that something most middle class people can afford to spend their money on?
Yes. I realize it's upsetting to learn Biden got more money in one day than trump did in a month, but I guess you criticizing the prices on a political fundraiser is the only way you can mentally deal with it.

I'm supporting neither Trump nor Biden.

Care to try something else to deflect with?

But I blame the Dems for the border and I don't think "the economy is all hunky dory".

You are ignorant of my politics and positions. In other words, a typical Trumpster.

Boring.
1. No one has handled the border effectively but the GOP pulls the Lucy/Charlie Brown football trick every time the Dems get close to agreement. Trump used illegal tactics for about 12 months then was stopped by the courts then crossings spiked to record highs. Dems have poor results working with the GOP

2. Economy is hunky dory. About as hunky dory as it can be running a deficit.

The GQP has, as usual, fucked up its tactics on the border because they're a cult now, they aren't allowed to work with the Dems, and simply can't shoot straight. But I blame the Dems for the original problem because of their rhetoric over the years. Those who are trying to escape to America look at the Dems are far more friendly, for good reason.

On the economy, I guess it depends on your definition of "hunky dory". There are so many imbalances right now that I don't think the economy has been hitting on all cylinders since the late 90's, and that was only because of the tech bubble. We're completely misapplying capitalism, and it's showing in the growing imbalances. To me, an economy over the last several years is a mixed bag, at best.

Trumps lowest price of entry to his upcoming Florida fundraiser is $250k. So what were you saying about Biden?

And you're free to explain this away at any time

These are ten wealthiest Congressional districts in the country:

CA-17 - Ro Khanna - Democrat
CA-18 - Anna Eshew - Democrat
VA-10 - Jennifer Wexton - Democrat
NY-03 - Tom Suozzi - Democrat
CA-14 - Eric Swalwell - Democrat
CA-15 - Kevin Mullin - Democrat
NJ-07 - Thomas Kean Jr - Republican
NJ-11 - Mike Sherrill - Democrat
NY-04 - Anthony D'Esposito - Republican
CA-12 - Barbara Lee - Democrat

And Biden won NY-04 by double digits and it was represented by Democrats for almost 30 years until 2023.

Explain what away? That educated successful people vote for Dems?

Economic inequality is at its zenith. Agree. That’s a feature not a bug though. Until Americans stop falling for the wealthy arguing everything that doesn’t favor them is socialism Marxism or whatever ism then we are in a circular loop. Masses have to be wise and educated in a democracy and we are failing at that.

I accept your concession.

Oh, and your figures about that fundraiser weren't exactly as you say

Ticket prices started at $250, but the largest contributions shot up to half a million dollars. Some of the biggest donors were to have their pictures taken with all three presidents by photographer Annie Leibovitz.

First lady Jill Biden called the program “the fundraiser to end all fundraisers.”

You are getting sidetracked. GOP policies only help the wealthy. Dumb rednecks don’t realize that. Educated urban voters get it.

Last night on his way to raising a record $26M in funds Biden calls the GOP’s platform “old and out of shape” like their leader. Bwahahahaha.

The GOP’s platform doesn’t exist. Here is why you can't actually build a platform on the right. They don’t all want the same things they are just aligned around who they dont like.

The ultrawealthy individuals funding the movement want the kind of tax policies that benefit them. The New Right intellectuals manning the think tanks want to stick it to their “woke” rivals on campus. The Christian nationalist preachers want power, policies that privilege their religious viewpoints, and access to both public and private sources of money. The agendas of movement leaders are often at odds with those of the rank-and-file supporters, who are often being exploited or consciously manipulated.

What really unites them is a fear and loathing of liberals specifically, and the modern world more generally. Try to read descriptions of “the woke” from Christian nationalist leaders or leaders of the New Right and see if you recognize anybody or anything you know. They are united in their stated view that they face a monolithic totalitarian enemy, which includes anyone to the left of them. They really don’t know those who disagree with them politically and appear to have no interest in knowing them.

GOP Platform surrenders to complete Trump

Status of irony meter.

BROKEN..

You have a problem with people being financially successful? You aren't one of those "commies" the Red Hats rail on about are you? And thanks for pointing out tix started at $250. Again, trumps start at $250k. So based on your supposition that tix prices to political fund raisers determine which candidate is for the little guy, it's obvious Biden wins that battle hands down.

"The ultrawealthy individuals funding the movement want the kind of tax policies that benefit them. "

Seriously. That one event that the Biden campaign stated had 5000 people and brought in 26 million.Tickets started at $250. A picture with Biden, Obama, and Clinton cost 100k.

I'm betting there weren't any poor people at this event and Biden calling anything old and out of shape is beyond hypocritical. You loons will eat any shit the elite in the Democratic party serves you, thank them and beg for more.

This is the part of my response that I have to add to every post to head off the inevitable lunatic rant on MAGA and Trump. I don't like Trump and never voted for him.

Well no one's perfect.

The point, of which you are well aware and purposefully glossing over, is that both parties are dependent on the super wealthy to keep them propped up, but since the turn of the century the bulk of the super wealthy have been gravitating towards the political left. This has been more than evident in regard to who they elect to represent them, the causes they support, and who they donate to. It was Obama and Clinton, not McCain, who received three out of four donations from Wall Street, after all. The "Republicans are the party of the rich" is an anecdote left over from the 1970s.

You are getting sidetracked. GOP policies only help the wealthy. Dumb rednecks don’t realize that. Educated urban voters get it.

My wife and I would fall into the upper middle class demographic, but we are not millionaires and we were helped by some of the Trump's and Bush's policies. What exactly have the Democrats done to not help the wealthy? You constantly hear them talking about "paying their fair share," and greedy CEO's and a multitude of other slogans to drive class warfare, but what has your party actually done about it other than just talk?

You know who butters your bread as much as the GOP does.

The "new ideas" have gotten Biden high disapproval numbers, about 70% of Americans say the country is going in the wrong direction, and over 70% of Americans are worse off than they were before and can't make ends meet. Time for some old and out of shape ideas.

1. You said the presidents affect culture. I said they didn’t. Now you agree. Good.
We agree that you are an idiot, if that is your point.
2. Are you kidding? 2017 Trump came close to an agreement with Democrats then over night reversed his negotiation position folding to pressure.
You have a link, because you are making no sense at all?
3. Dems have put up multiple reasonable offers with the GOP only to have the GOP ALWAYS back out. The GOP can’t do a deal because they don’t want one.

The GOP put up an "offer." A passed bill, in fact, so much more than just "an offer." It is called H.R. 2 and it has already been fully vetted and voted by the people's representatives in Congress. Where are Senate Democrats on passing it?
