GOP Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts: ‘If you legalize marijuana, you’re gonna kill your kids’

He’s right. You’re certainly putting them at great risk. And big pot is circumventing regulation putting everyone at risk.
Pot causes serious issues and especially vulnerable are young people because the brain chemistry does not fully develop until the ages of 25-28. Young people are at greatest risk.
You won’t know that because big pot and their bought politicians keep this suppressed.
Good for that Nebraska governor.
Legalized pot would still be illegal for kids. Same as booze and cigarettes, you understand that don’t you?
So that makes it good for one?
It shows that the context of the argument is off. Those who want to legalize aren’t talking about for kids so coming back by implying you are endangering kids is rather stupid.
Hmmmmm... Cigarettes are legal. Ever seen teenagers smoke?
Pot smoke is becoming dangerously ubiquitous while not nearly as dangerous tobacco smoke, which was once ubiquitous, is nearly extinct. Things can be fixed.
There are edibles.

Is that why people that are 18 can kill people when they join the military and at 21 they can drink a toxin to numb themselves?
One contradiction does not justify another.
No it doesn't yet, we allow kids to ruin their lives by getting married at eighteen...
Again, bad decisions do not justify other bad decisions.
That is why there is abortion.
You argue like a child.

In a society where a very large % of us abuse alchohol

Pretty insane to criminalize any cannabis product.

No one takes a dab and beats their wife or their kid.
Maybe thirty minutes later after they catch their breathe and their head...

Dangerous relative to what/

Not next to sugary drinks and liquor

Unless you're for the prohibition of alchohol your risk assessment here is completely off. The state allows for all sorts of harmful behavior because we're a liberal society. Many many many things are more harmful than cannabis. Relative to analogous legal substances cannabis is more benign than all of them

In a society where a very large % of us abuse alchohol

Pretty insane to criminalize any cannabis product.

No one takes a dab and beats their wife or their kid.
Do the alcoholics pour their alcohol down others’ throats with impunity? Does pelosi, et al, consider alcohol as therapeutic because her son looks to make lots of money in the alcohol business? Is it ok to subject kids in car seats or strollers or playgrounds to alcohol?

We were when we were growing up in the 1960's-1970's.

I’m not in favor of endorsing any intoxicants. I’m in favor of government providing warnings to people about the dangers of intoxicants. They’re dropping the ball on pot.
The fact that you have no idea about the anxiety-producing, depersonalization-producing, psychosis-producing effects pot has on some people bears this out.

Yes people used to quite literally put liquor on babies gums to shut them up openly

And we give fucking opioids to children WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT/ Again it's not worse for you than soda pop, which i am drinking right now

You understand you cannot physically overdose on cannabis, right? There has never been an event in recorded human history of cannabis overdose. We have killed mice with it but you have to inject them with a significant % of their fucking bodyweight which would be impossible for a child they'd fall asleep long before. Smoking, eating, whatever. Some one would have to purposely inject them full of the shit and at that point they'd obviously be trying to kill the kid anyway. In the most inefficient manner possible

A kid can very easily down enough liquor to kill himself before he realizes how wasted he's going to be

There are law enforcement people who are adamant that pot is a stepping stone to other drugs. Decriminalizing pot is not an issue for me. There are a lot of drug addicts and a lot of former drug addicts who struggle to stay clean and are partially broken if not more. We have had an endless national party since the 1960's.

I also have no problem with education and research and warnings etc. but it should be legalized everywhere. It’s insane that it isn’t yet

You have no idea what you’re talking about. Cannibals has terrible effects on some people. And you’re clueless. That’s the problem.

Not relative to alcohol or opioids, no they do not

Alcohol causes all sorts of social problems including domestic violence

There is no correlation with cannabis use and domestic violence

If you are not a teetotaler you are just a hypocrite and should shut the fuck up. Your vices are not better than any others you simpleton. Your friends and family who drink are no doubt more degenerate than the average cannabis user. Never in your life have you been the educated one in the room. Shut the fuck up. Delusional

Of course pot is a stepping stone. So are cigarettes and booze but we live in a free society and smoking pot does not harm others and actually has many medical benefits. It should be legal

You’re parroting propaganda. Go read up on pot and depersonalization disorder, pot and psychotic episodes and then we can have a discussion. And don’t rely on any pro-pot websites. They’ll just load you up on more propaganda.

Yes I have. I’ve also seen them smoke pot. What’s your point?

The point is that if its legal for adults, the kids will get it too. How hard is it for a mischievious teen to take a fifth of the liquor cabinet or a pack out of their dad's carton of pell mells? Will it be any harder for them to take a joint from their older brother at home, or forge a note from their mum to take down to the local grass emporium?

Kids mature a lot faster than they did years ago. Let them indulge in some marijuana. They should learn about drugs just as much as they’re now learning about genders!
