Grocery Prices FELL in April - Thanks Biden!

These idiots have been ranting about inflation since Biden took office as if he created the infation. Then republicans ran on stopping infation in the mid terms and have done nothing. If trump is elected, he won't stop inflation. These morons are talking about an imaginary Trump presidency that did not exist. And they make excuses for 2020, when the fact is that a presidents job is to handle a crisis and trump failed miserably in that regard.

It’s about identifying causes. Fuel costs go up every summer. That’s normal. When you back out Shelter food and fuel there is basically no inflation. Then look at what is causing shelter fuel and food to go up:

Shelter: Housing availability. No monetary policy fixes that.

Fuel: we are producing record oil and all other energy outputs. Prices are affected by OPEC and war. That’s not a government Policy issue.

Food: Home food prices are down. You pay more if you eat out. That is only fixed by behavior not government policy.
Grocery prices are not down...they may be in a dip but they are not in a decrease. Let's hope the dip becomes a decrease.

Real estate is its own animal. Yes the inventory is anemic and therefore the demand is out of control. That however does not account for municipal overreach plying increase on local taxation which translates into higher costs including rent. The real problem there is the tanking pension systems sucking the blood out of municipal budgets which are now at critical Mass. That actually is a policy issue.

Last but not least the dollar is shrinking like a wool sweater in a hot wash. If the cause is BRICS competition...there probably isn't any fix for it.

Even if I give the OP the benefit of the doubt it does not matter because the value of the dollar a shopper earns fell by 1.2% over the same period. The value of the dollar has decreased by 22% under FJB's tenure....That's really bad.

And where are the wage gains? Mostly in government.

Real wages.. which means AFTER inflation is higher than any point under Trump (throw out Covid numbers). You are better off now than 2019.

I appreciate the rational response but it needs some corrections.

Food was a marginal decrease that was very small so yes they were down but I think your point is we didn’t see massive price reductions. Massive price reductions would be bad. We are looking for stabilization.

Demand for houses isn’t out of control it is really normal demand fighting for lower inventories. Taxes are not really an issue but if house prices are high from low supply the taxes can put someone over the edge of affordability.

While inflation at home has seemed like it has hurt the dollar wage are up more so people havent lost buying power. And exchange rates are very high. The dollar is strong. Look at the Euro or Chinese Yaun.

Well well well. So grocery prices fell in April and are up 1.1% in the last year. Looks like corporations are learning that high prices slow sales and cause customers to substitute. Additionally now that supply disruptions are lessening we are seeing Food prices stabilize. I know this news will make the conservatives sad. They would like to see a bad economy but just can’t seem to find one. Thank you Biden for your stewardship on food prices.

3…2…1.. until someone posts low prices are killing farmers and that‘s Bidens fault too.

Grocery prices fell on the whole in April, according to data released Wednesday by the Labor Department.

Prices for food at home fell 0.2 percent in April, according to the Labor Department’s consumer price index (CPI), the closely watched inflation gauge. It was the first time food at home prices fell since April 2023 and followed several months of plateauing.

After rising quickly for most of the past three years due to supply chain constraints and the impact of the Ukraine war, grocery prices are up just 1.1 percent over the past 12 months.
Wages have been increasing above prices since Feb last year...

This is the facts...

And considering the hospital pass from the Trump Oil supply cut , Biden did quite well...

Well, Xiden didn't allow, the demaklan had Congress too, it was a group effort by your cult

Potato’s idiot policies led to the massive increase in prices. Market corrections are the basis for a slight present reduction.

Biden gets all the blame. Not any credit.
I assume you refer to Biden (asshole).

Newsflash. The policies you mention (dumping trillions into the economy because of Covid) were those of BOTH Biden AND Trump

It’s data. But I suppose we should just guess how prices are soing based on who is president and disregard all the wage growth people have seen.
The lying from Progs is now a near total constant. We will become a dictatorship in there will be no tolerance at all for any ways going against the all-powerful state at some point. Military action against the current insurrections would end it quickly. And if it does get here, Progs caused it with the helped Republicans.

I am of course referring to the asshole Biden, you asshole.

And Potato gets the blame. He doesn’t honestly merit any ”thanks”.
Biden gets the blame but not Trump when they did the same thing…

Interesting

After going up 20%+ on Tater’s watch. :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg:

Wages up More than food prices at home since 2019. Eating out is more expensive though. Try eating at home if you are broke.
Americans can't make ends meet. They can't afford groceries, rents, or much of anything else. Foreclosures are high. Evictions are high. Auto loan defaults are high. Withdraws from savings and retirement accounts are high. Credit card debt is high. So, somewhere you have your wires crossed.

But Paul Krugman says we are wrong.

The economy is great !

Not sure I could restrain myself if I ever met that little jackass in person.
