Has anyone gone back and actually reviewed Rice's original testimony?

From Ben Rhodes Memo Friday, September 14, 2012

Goals:

* To convey that the United States is doing everything that we can to protect our people and facilities abroad.

* To underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure of policy;

* To show that we will be resolute in bringing people who harm americans to justice, and standing steadfast through these protests'

* To reinforce the President and Administration's strength and steadiness in dealing with difficult challenges.

What about this?

That is CYA...and they found the parrot to do it. What position was she rewarded with for doing it?

Oh didn't I? What part did I "miss"?

This part here where she says it's the video.
Rice-
"our current assessment is that what happened in benghazi was, in fact, initially a spontaneous reaction to what had just transpired hours before in Cairo, almost a copycat of the demonstrations against our facility in Cairo, which were prompted, of course, by the video".

Almost a copycat of the demonstrations against our facility in Cairo, which were prompted, of course, by the video.

Get it?

The demonstrations in Cairo were prompted by the video. No where did she say Benghazi was started because of the video.

"Almost a copycat of the demonstrations". See? The demonstrations in Benghazi were ALMOST a copycat of the demonstrations in Cairo. They knew what they knew from the sketchy information they had from 10,000 miles away in a country that just went through a revolution.

See, you guys can't just take words and twist them into something else. That's the Republican way. Oh wait, you guys are Republican.

Well, at least it looks like you admit there was a video.

At least it looks like you admit there were other riots besides Benghazi.

Since more than 50 people died in the riots, which ones were peaceful and which ones were "attacks"?

Secretary of Defense Panetta and General Ham both testified that they knew immediately this was a terrorist attack.

No riot. No protest. A terrorist attack.

Goals? You're not supposed to have goals?

And we still don't know if the attack was opportunistic on the back of a video demonstration. Remember, more than 50 people died in deadly demonstrations and attacks on American embassies all across the Arab world. How did Republicans know what was going on when our CIA didn't? They didn't of course. This is all political.

The other thing is that Rhodes is an Advisor for Strategic Communications and Speechwriting. Even he has an opinion.

Anger Over a Film Fuels Anti-American Attacks in Libya and Egypt

No let-up in protests over anti-Islam film - CNN.com

Contrary To Right-Wing Media Claims, Report Confirms Anti-Islam Video Was Catalyst For Libya Attack

Attackers Said They Struck U.S. Consulate In Benghazi "In Retaliation For the Video." An October 15 New York Times article reported that the people who attacked the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi said that an anti-Muslim film prompted the attack. Furthermore, Libyans "who witnessed the assault and know the attacks" also said the video was the catalyst for the attack

-------------------------------------------------------

If Republicans want the truth, they need to bring some Libyans here and ask them. Remember, it happened in Libya. There were eyewitnesses. Why shouldn't they speak?

Panetta Says Risk Impeded Deployment to Benghazi

Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta said Thursday that he and top military commanders “felt very strongly” that deploying American forces to defend against the fatal attack last month on the United States diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, was too risky because they did not have a clear picture of what was happening on the ground.

“There’s a lot of Monday-morning quarterbacking going on here,” Mr. Panetta told reporters at the Pentagon, adding that “the basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on, without having some real-time information about what’s taking place.”

As a result, Mr. Panetta said, he and two top commanders “felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.” The commanders are Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Gen. Carter F. Ham of Africa Command, which oversees American military operations in Africa, including Libya.

As Mr. Panetta told reporters on Thursday, “This happened within a few hours, and it was really over before we had the opportunity to really know what was happening

---------------------------------------------

This is why Republicans are fools. Deadly riots going on all over the Arab world and Republicans would throw away American lives to "rush in" without a clue what was going on. And what happened is exactly what the right wingers who made the video hoped would happen. Somehow that seems to be lost in all the fake controversy.

I am not sure what your point is, other than that you didn't actually read your link.

That video sure came in handy as a 9-11-12 attack excuse. I wonder what the "Story" would have been had the video not been released that same day :eek:

Who knows, there wouldn't have been deadly riots all over the Arab world. We know that for sure.

If I can blow the GOP's imagined scandal apart with public testimony found on the internet, then what's the point? Another dozen investigations? It only makes them look stupid.

I posted Panetta's comments. He never said that. He said it was over before they knew what happened.

Even with actual links to Panetta's quotes, still these guys lie. It really is quite silly.
